So I started removing some bloatware from 2.2, and I noticed that a lot of files are doubles... for example..

Vvm.apk
Vvm.odex

Is this suppose t be like this? I changed the .apk to .bak on the files I do not want, but in 2.1 I never saw .odex files in there before. Anyone know what this is about?

lol i need the 2.2 genie news widget i deleted it cause i didnt like the new one and i tried to download an old one and it didnt work can anyone grab the file through root explorer and email it to me [email protected]

And since you lose root after getting 2.2 now, what method can we use to re-root? Can we yet?

I didn't lose root. If you followed the directions correctly, you are able to keep root.

I did, I did everything, reverted all theme stuff and moved su to xbin. Am I supposed to move it back now or something?

I also now cannot even get the drivers to install for USB Mass Storage mode or for Charge mode now...any ideas? I tried the ones from a forum and the Moto ones and none are getting rid of the yellow ! for the device in either mode....

I did not move SU back from xbin... You no longer have the SU ninja icon? I'm not sure what to tell you. :(

I don't think you'd be able to move the SU file anyways since you aren't rooted, you probably wont have the permissions.

I followed this and it worked!!! Tell everyone who needs it:

IF YOU LOST ROOT BECAUSE YOU COPIED su INSTEAD OF MOVING IT:

Quote:
EDIT: 1. Open terminal and make sure su exists in /system/xbin/su and run it to get a root terminal. You should see a #
2. Run "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/system /system"
3. Run "cp /system/bin/su /system/bin/su.bak"
4. Run "cd /system/bin/"
5. Run "rm su"

You now have root again.

DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!

Just rename them. For example rename Vvm.apk to Vvm.bak.

And no, you can ignore the .odex file.
