2.2 and bloatware

So when u rename the. Apk files to. Bak nothing changes? Is it all or just some of them?

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

all of them. i even tried reinstalling the bak file for blockbuster, renaming to apk, then installing, then deleting. same thing. i'm at a total loss right now.

weird. i found that even though it wasn't under downloads, when i went to blockbuster on the market it showed uninstall. so that got blockbuster off. but i still have everything else. city id, amazon, all of that garbage.

hmmmm... weird. i'm using launcherpro. i verified that all of the bloat was opening and running as if still installed. so i opened my drawer, long pressed, long held over trash to uninstall and it worked. i don't get it. what exactly are the odex files for? could that be doing something?

Im not sure what opex files r but I have told to them alone I don't think they know what effects come from removing them. But im glad u where able finally get rid of the bloatware

Try to rename it. Bak then back to. Apk and did u move them back to system/apps

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

yeah i moved them back exactly where i got them from, the rename didn't work...is there any apps on the market that are better and could restore my txt ability?

also things i've tried... using root explorer to install them from the SD card (says install failed) and from the system/app folder also failed i tried doing a restore with titanium backup, didn't work.

try deleting anything messageing.apk then go here and re download it to sd then from root explorer move from sd to system/app then reboot if that doesn't work then the only thng i know to do is take it back to 2.1 stock after u do that when u upgrade back dont delete anything just change to .bak in root explorer
http://www.chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/ use this to get it back

Editing the stock Rom.

Please tell me if this is feasable.

I was retarded and never bothered to Root my incredible when it was possible to do on 2.1

It obviously isn't possible using revoked/simple root/ or any other methods after 2.2 (not yet anyway)

I would like to remove the apps from my phone entirely/rename them, but I can't. I can't because without root access you cant rename/delete files from the system/app folder on the phone.

I recently downloaded the update.zip file from google for the 2.2 update(since I didnt want to wait for the OTA update). Do you think it is possible to remove the apk's you dont want from the stock 2.2 google rom since they are located in the same folder system/app within the rom files. Then rezip the rom files and reflash your phone with the edited rom files?

I cant think of a reason why it wouldn't work / be possible??? thoughts?

thats what i have done...when i put a theme on if it has apks that i have already renamed or removed, i just do the same to the ziped files before i load them to the sdcard.
