I forgot to copy the stupid file to the SD-Card lol. Anyhoo, it's now in hte process of patching, so moto-fastboot of boot.img and system.img reverted .904 to .902 enough to fool the update.
Let's hope this battery life does, indeed, improve....
To go back to 902 if you need too, you will have to moto-fastboot the webtop along with the system and boot. There is a webtop patch in the 905. And i lied, recovery does assert the webtop also.
No, i meant when you flashed to 905 it added files to your webtop. So if you need to back to 902 for any reason you will have to now flash the 902 system, boot and webtop.
The only time u will not receive an ota is if u have uninstalled bloat ware or u are on an unoffical leaked update or have messed with the buildprop file meaning any significant changes to the system rooting doesnt do that
As a matter of fact, I was on .902 with Motofail root when I installed the .905 from the Cheesecake server. All it did was kill my root until I Motofailed it again.
You will need to get it back to 902 if you want 905. All the Moto updates work that way...they look for the current released version (902) and if it isn't there they won't work. If I where you I would hold back and see what they release as a final. I can't imagine it will be much longer. If it is 904 you are already done, but if you go back to 902 and then add 905 and they make it 904...or 906 you will have to go back to 902 again. If you don't mind maybe having to do it a couple of times then go for it. I speak from experience with the first update for this phone. I guessed wrong and had to flash back to stock several times. It worked out fine, but was annoying.
Well, all Moto updates that use the differential patching method work this way. If a full OTA came out (which would be ~200MB), theoretically it wouldn't matter what OS you were coming from.
The thing with the patch updates is that they require the exact file set from .902 to work correctly, as the components that are patched need to be exact.

Updates assert your system, webtop and boot (kernel) if those have been motified or not all from the same build, the update will fail. And if it has a preinstall patch (which they haven't had on the last couple) you will need the correct files in there also or the update will fail.
I think after the accidental leak fiasco with 901(?) they dropped the preinstall patch requirement in order ot get everyone onto .902 when it finally came out. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they start including it again once they read of this new leak via cheesecake lol.... :icon_eek:

I'm just hoping that Google's ownership of Motorola Mobility will give MM more clout and force VZW to back off so we can unlock hte bootlaoder at will on these phones....
