a couple noobest of noob questions....please help

If you haven't installed clockwork recovery you don't have it yet. It doesn't install automatically when you root your phone if that is what you are wondering. You can either get it off the market for a small fee or get it for free at Koush's (the developer) website here: My Brain Hurts: Droid X Recovery (and Droid 2 too!)

Simply install and run it, click the top button to install recovery and the click the bottom button to reboot recovery. (Tip: Once installed you can also get into recovery by booting the phone, pulling the battery during boot, replacing it and rebooting. This is the emergency way to get into it).

To answer another questions no one seemed to cover, you can go up to 32gb for your SD card. I bought the sandisk 32gb card when I first got my droid 2 (I ordered it on the pre-release launch day so over half a year ago). I haven't had a single problem or hiccup with it and it runs great, not to mention I can store 3k+ songs, a dozen psx roms and still have room for videos, multiple clockwork and titanium backups, etc... If the cost of the 32gb isn't a deterrent for you I would highly recommend the sandisk 32gb micro sds!
