email the build prop to yourself, then save on the phone. use root explorer to put it where it needs to be.

but di I need to delete the other one after doing that before rebooting the phone? that's my question along with what the permissions need to be to make sure it works.

don't be sorry at all. You have helped a great deal with getting to this point. It was my fault for not making a good backup before 'morphing' things on my phone. I think I made 3 backups alone yesterday after I get everything sorted out...lol. I went from nothing to over-kill on them.

I wouldn't delete it quite yet, rename it, then copy the fresh one over.

Permissions should be 644 for the file, rw-r--r--.
Ower - Read, Write, No Execute
Group - Read, No Write, No execute
Others - Read, No Write, No Execute
