a presumptuous newbie?

K, CK, some of us aren't around a computer 24/7 :)

Few questions...

1) Where did you download your copies of the gapps/rom from?

2) What version of clockwork are you using?

3) In what order are you installing the zips?

4) What all are you wiping, if at all?

This should cover most of what I am wondering, and should get a few things cleared up...

yup close clock would be last and aka latter

"The former" and "the latter" are rather formal.
The former is the first of two people or things just mentioned; the latteris the second of those things or people.

"If offered tea or coffee, I'd choose the former." (I'd choose tea)
"I visited London and Cambridge during the holidays. The latter is truly beautiful." (Cambridge is beautiful)
"'Argentina' and 'country' are nouns. The former is a proper noun, the latter (is) a common one."

Excellent! I enjoy writing. I was not taking my time. Much like either Lincoln or Jefferson (I am probably wrong about both), one of which apologize for writing such a long letter because they didn't have the time to write a shorter one, I just went with what was easiest. And I was wrong to boot.

I appreciate both the fact you looked at my problem and help me with another.

Thanks,

Jim

I went back to Sapphireversion 0.8.4and when into the SD cardand found what I hope is the answer to the version of clockwork: recovery 0.9 9.3b 2.5.0.1 Sholes.

I downloaded the Google apps from the same site I downloaded the 1.0 version of Shappire: releases:sapphire-1.0.0 [CVPCS Sapphire Wiki].

First I installed the ROM, which installed without problem. I then installed the Google apps download from the same site. It appeared to download okay because I got the screen which told me to finish Google apps installation. When I got to the next screen with the green Droid and tapped on it, nothing would happen.

Thanks so much for your help.

By the way, is that an Apache, I think AH 64, in your picture?

I use a different version of the same download for theROM and Google apps.this time, the little green Droid responded to my touch. I will report back if everything goes as I hoped.

Thanks so much.

it appears everything loaded appropriately.

Again, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate the Rescue Squad.

Jim

if this makes any difference, when I boot into recovery, it does appear to be clockwork mod recovery.

Thanks again,

Jim

I will note that for the future when I need additional help. I really enjoy what the rooted Droid can do. I hope I do not become too much of a pest to the forum.

Enjoy your weekend.

Jim

Dumb question but I have to ask...did you rename the folder to update (see above) and install it like you did the ROM?

If no you have to install Google APPS like the ROM.

Boot into recovery and install
Did not expect to be back so quick. I installed the luna landscape theme not realizing it was only for Sapphire 0.8.4. Now at reboot my phone is stuck at the blue sapphire stage and will go no further. I have pulled the battery and rebooted and same thing.

What have I done now other than getting too greedy?

Thanks.

Jim

I dug a little deeper on the forum and found the answer. I will get rid of the theme. I will wait for dedicated themes to the 1.0 version.

Thanks,

Jim
