A Tough Decision - Verizon

I'm looking to get a android os. I have a ipod touch and i love it, the only reason i love it is because i jail broke it. The way i understand it is that the android app developers have more freedom and less restrictions than the iphone.

I live in the sticks but there is a tower about 3 miles away so i get great service. anyways my area would probably one of the very last areas to get upgraded to LTE.

looks like im going to be one of those eager people waiting outside of the local Verizon store for the X july 15th:)

On this mornings news: Verizon Wireless Said to Start Offering IPhone in January - Bloomberg

Sounds pretty positive this time. After that fiasco with Steve failing to make a connection during his demonstration - I'm thinking that might have been a pivotal point in Apple's decision to go with VZW.

I could be wrong.. :icon_ banana:

A post back a few in this thread mentioned the iPhone not being well made. While I agree their system may/may not come up short against the Android system, having owned Apple product since 1984 - I have to say their hardware is amongst the most solid built units I've ever owned.

Just saying.. :) mikey (stickin' with my Droid) For now.. :)

I think it was a month ago they had a report of a company already making CMDA compatible Iphones. That being said i doubt they have changed anything from the current iphone other than the CMDA part. So the problems might be the same. but they can have it fixed, what are they going to do with the ones already made? fix them? i doubt that

Ahhhh, who to believe. Droid Life I think is more reliable than Bloomberg on this issue, but you have to consider the announcement was never made as Droid Life claimed and it would make sense to counter the misinformation with a leak such as this to Bloomberg.

Someone else made a good point: What if this is all subterfuge designed to deter people from buying that new IPhone on AT&T? I mean, no one is on record...6 months from now VZW rolls out superior phones....

What problems do you refer to? I had understood the iPhone problems were the AT&T network, not specifically an iPhone problem. Then again - I'll be the first to admit I don't follow the iPhone news much. I'm just in love so much with my MotoDroid and the Android system...

My decision is Droid X or Droid II..... ;)

mikey the undecided.. :)

The current iphone is having problem with receptions. If you hold it wrong you will lose reception. Also having some screen problem with white and yellow blotches and some lines.

by then i hope they also have a new battery technology that will last a couple of days. sounds like the incredible isnt very incredible when it comes to battery life and reception, and now they are getting sony screens put in them due to samsung not being able to keep up. I'm leaning more and more towards the X every day.

Don't hold your breath. Battery technology isn't much advanced over the last 3000 years, much less the last few years. Bigger phones mean bigger or shorter lived batteries.

The X is claimed to have better battery life then the incredible and that is a bigger phone tho. key word being claimed.

The reason for that is the processor, the OMAP 1Ghz processor takes less power to run then the Snapdragon 1 Ghz processor, from what i understand, so that's why they claim it.

But seeing that the verizon LTE network is supposed to go live in Nov. for certain cities, the realization that iphone will come to verizon is very strong. I know that's one of the things they were waiting for because verizon and spring both will be using LTE, so the phone will be compatible.

ehhh....I wouldn't believe any claims to a better battery life. Smart phones suck up batteries, that's the bottom line. I've got my Droid on the cradle and two batteries sitting in Chargers right now.

We are a two Droid family, of course. :)

Bah....iPhone will not be on Verizon. The day it happens I'll stop saying I'm right, because I've been right every other time this silly rumor pops up. If it actually happens I still won't get one because I'm an Android kind of guy.;)

Funny thing is, by rights by the time IPhone4 came to VZW in January, it would have to be shown alongside cheaper, mid-tier phones that it would be competitive with.

"...these are our top-of-the-line models, and over here we have some cheaper mid-level options, and then of course if you'd like to grossly overpay for one of the mid-tier phones I can show you the IPhone"

"Can you hear me now? Wait let me put my phone on the table, can you hear me now?"

lol...ikr

well if you are one lucky evo 4g owner you might have a problem using it if you set it down on the wrong material.

Here's an idea

the droid incredible i ordered is supposed to come in around july 17th, but i talked to a local verizon store and i can get a Droid X on the 15th like have it in my hand.
my plan behind this is what ever phone i like better i keep.
kinda worried if i dont like the X i will want the incredible again but would have to wait a month and probably get the sony screen.

is there any reason why i wouldn't be able to have both phones at the same time and just activate 1?
-then the one i dont like as much take or send back.
