Able to Place icons anywhere no grid???

Does anybody know if you can with a program or not, be able to place icons and widgets anywhere (x,y) coordinate on the screen and NOT have the icons/widgets get snapped into a grid like formation?


Just curious, because it would most likely create a visual style of placing photos etc.. all over the place and not having limited space because of a grid layout.

And if there isn't anything that allows for this and I must say to somebody listening....

FREE placement of objects anywhere on the screen please!!!
