Access To Internal memory

I come from BlackBerry Phones.
These phones open up two drives (internal memory & Mass Storage)

I notice the droid x only opens mass storage.
Is there a way to access the internal memory (ie to access internal ringtone files etc) without a 3rd party application? Or is that the only way? If that is the only way, what's a good app for that?
