Accessing Phone Storage from USB

I recently rooted my Incredible, but I've been having an issue with trying to access the internal storage via USB. When I plug in my phone it doesn't even come up with the options to go to disc drive, and when I choose the default mode as disc drive nothing comes up. I'm currently running Virtuous 2.7, but I was having problems in stock Sense Froyo before I installed other roms. I admittedly didn't try in Cyanogen, in the short time I was running with it. Any ideas? I have some pictures and other stuff not on the SD card that I'd like to pull off, and I'd like to be able to just plug it in and go.
