Advanced Task Killer/ Battery Life

ok help me out here... my display is using 68% of my battery.. I uninstalled the Advanced Task Killer and my screen brightness is just barely on. do i need to stop the running widgets? if so, which ones? is there another app I need to download to help my battery?

I don't run widgets that updates all the time such as Facebook, Twitter, and such. Is your device rooted? I would definitely recommend rooting it, I use SetCPU and you can underclock your device whenever it is not in use to 600mhz, plenty of customizations you can do.

Turn off wifi if you are not using it, as well as GPS and bluetooth.

One more thing, if you go to Settings, Battery Manager, Battery Mode, and select Maximum Battery. This will help you save a lot of battery life.

Finally, make sure your device is set to "CDMA" not Global.

You can't be serious. The phone doesn't run at 1.2GHz all of the time, it already has a range. What's your obsession with them rooting their phone??

That doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Display is ALWAYS the biggest battery hog. Usage has to total 100%. Widgets would not fall under Display %.

DroidForums junkie!

I'm going to chime in here to agree with double d, you should NOT use a task killer to automatically kill apps. Display is always going to be a batt hog and that includes just powering the screen not what is being displayed like widgets etc.

2 things. How do I see if GPS is on? And how do u disable all the widgets that come with the phone? I go to running apps and stop them but it seems they are running again everytime I check

It's kind of like this. This is a Droid, it's not a Blackberry or a Windows phone. You're really worrying about stuff that you shouldn't be worried about. Task Killers are not needed, don't worry about apps running in the background. What they are doing is actually in the Unix world called sleeping. They are not using up resources.

Try enjoying your Droid Pro and quit worrying so much.;)

Oh and about GPS? You should see a little globe or something like that when that is on. I don't know what it looks like on the Pro.

ok thanks, just seems like my battery SUCKS... i uninstalled ATK, installed juicedefender and check on running apps every couple hours but my phone still cant make it through the day without needing a charge

I'm COMPLETELY confused. USE task killers! DON'T use task killers! USE battery-saving apps! DON'T use battery-saving apps! AAAAGGGGHHHH !!! *LOL* I guess I'll just keep playing and playing with the phone to figure it out and let it figure itself out. :)

wow, you guys need to check the "droid pro battery life" thread

no offense, but d4ster3 doesn't seem to know what he/she is talking about...

Battery life sucks on all smart phones, specially when you first get it because you're constantly playing with it, trying it out, etc.

Want good battery life? Invest a few dollars on a spare battery, try Amazon.com and see if you find a wall charger for it on eBay. Then you don't worry about your battery life because you've go a backup. I actually have two back up batteries but for the most part I don't need them. My D2 battery got a mid day charge and is sitting at 70%. Had I not charged it I'd be at 30 or 40%. That's with very little use.

There isn't a single Droid out there that has great battery life. These things use juice, might as well get use to it and prepare for it.
