Airdroid installation, I need help

I gave up on Samsung KIES about 2 years ago, very unstable and caused the occasional lock-up.

At one stage in early 2014 I had Airdroid and used it to move photos onto my PC.
- Airdroid was vastly superior to KIES

Today I lost 9 hours trying to find my way through the Google Play Store (log-in) to find Airdroid.
The Airdroid site preaches to the converted, and I cannot grasp how to setup Airdroid

Do I only install AirDroid on my Win PC, or do I need Airdroid app on my phone too ?
- which Airdroid do I install on my PC (web or desktop?) ... and where do I find it ?
- and if Airdroid is required on my Samsung S2 phone where do I find the Airdroid app on Google Play Store
I cannot find it !

The Airdroid forum has been a very disappointing experience
- I hope my request is not inappropriate

AirDroid is in the play store. In play store, try doing a search for AirDroid. See if it shows up. On your pc, install the desktop version. Hope this helps some.
