Alternate 3G(and Edge) Speed Increase Hack

i am going to give it a try. there is nothing to loose. i am going to do the flash method, if it does not work, how do you take it off?

Back up your build.prop file first. If it doesnt work you can overwrite the build.prop in /system with the backed up one.

Just a note, I am not using the flashable method. I am using the text from the code box in the first post and entering it manually in my build.prop. If this did not work for you, maybe try the alternate method meaning if you flashed the zip, copy the text from the first post in to the build.prop. If you manually edited build proper try the flashable method instead. The code is slightly different!

Ok I just got finished with my speed tests (using speedtest.net mobile app)


WITHOUT HACK:
Ping: 190
Down: 584
Up: 658

I ran 5 different speed tests with the hack..

WITH HACK:

Test 1:
Ping: 299
Down: 76
Up: 228

Test 2:
Ping: 186
Down: 639
Up: 753

Test 3:
Ping: 186
Down: 428
Up: 540

Test 4:
Ping: 163
Down: 704
Up: network connection issues

Test 5:
Ping: 179
Down: 1114
Up: 617

IMO it does improve the 3g speeds but, like the other hack, does not give you consistent speeds. But hey, crappy AT&T DSL doesn't give consistent speeds either.

It took three hours to install? You know you ran way more than three waiting for one that supported your claim. Different time of day, likely in a different location. And speeds are generally slower around lunch time because people are, you know, on their lunch break.
