Android 5.1.1 Could be on its Way Soon

Every single one of those builds have been stable for me on both my nexus 5 & nexus 6, and many others here have been happy with lollipop.

If there was so much stability, there wouldn't be all the patches.

These aren't new features being added...it's patches to fix the patches.

I'm happy it's working great for your devices, but obviously it's not for the majority, or the quirks and bugs would be brushed over.

Every software has quirks or bugs. My response was to the stability of the software. Constant random reboots, constant f/cs, apps not working are all what I would consider as an unstable software. Lollipop has quirks but it is stable and easily a daily driver.

Lollipop is starting to remind me of froyo I think it was... Big changes... And a mother load of updates to fix stuff...
Nailed it. And this is the one time I would have understood manufacturers like Samsung waiting it out on kit Kat until Google released a version with minor bug or two, something Samsung's engineers could fix on their own.

I'm guessing my OG Moto X won't be getting any of these, so I'll have to start looking around for a stock build to flash on...

So this is good news. :D

Should this imply that the Turbo will get 5.1.1 straight-up due to bugs found in 5.1? I'm willing to wait no particular rush so as long as the battery life improves along with VoLTE. I remember receiving the update from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich for the RAZR MAXX, and that OS would slow to a crawl and drained the battery like there's no tomorrow. Let's make sure Google & Motorola get it right here.

It all really depends on how you define 'stability' - If you mean stable across all the nurmerous hardware platforms that Lollipop can run on, then sure there are still issues out there. Speaking just for my Nexus 7 2013 Wifi - 5.0.2 has been stable as a rock. It's been running for over 4 weeks straight now (with no restart/power cycle) with nary a glitch. I'd call that pretty stable from my point of view.. Let's also not forget that 3rd party apps are a major part of the 'stability' equation.

so many people must have unlimited data and they don't notice the effect of the Feb update. I just changed my data plan from unlimited to 3 gb, Feb 14th just after an update my data usage sky rocketed. I went from under .5gb a month to 5gb! The update has prevented all of my apps from closing! I have to select task manager and close all, every time I leave my wi-fi access areas to prevent another crazy usage month! This has happened to me, using my samsung s5 and several of my friends as well!

It's now abundantly clear that Lollipop is the buggiest Android release in many years. Google has had to constantly update the OS to fix a number of annoying issues. There have even been a few updates which ended up fixing things that previous updates broke. Perhaps this latest version will finally smooth out the ripples.

Android 5.1.1 started showing up in the Android Studio SDK manager this morning. There's no word yet on what this .1 incremental release will actually add, but more than likely it's minor big squashing. Despite the bugginess of Android 5.x Lollipop, it's still a great evolution of Android. Perhaps Google should have simply let it bake a bit longer before pulling it out of the oven...

I have a Galaxy 5 and have not yet downloaded Lollipop, I've read too many negative posts about all the bugs. I know in general that most who take the time to post are those who are unhappy with it, and there are probably many more who love it that aren't posting. But I still can't bring myself to do it yet, although I would love to have the latest OS. Wonder at what point they will fix the majority of the bugs?

Cool, another version of the OS that the Note 4 won't get in a reasonable amount of time... LOL

Probably be even longer for those of us who have a Galaxy Tab S (wifi), hell, I am still waiting for CyanogenMod's lollipop to show up for the S4 and I'm not talking about nightlies, but I have a feeling because of 5.1 being released not that long ago by Google is what they are working on to release.

I didn't notice any bugs on my Nexus 6 with 5.0, 5.01 or my current 5.1.

In fact I can't tell the difference.

Is everyone else getting the pop ups trying to get you to sign up for candy crush and a bunch of other games?

Have had lots of business with lollipop since donload on my Samsung Alpha. Was impressed up until lollipop caused multi issues, like auto on speakerphone that can't be disabled.
