Android Core Apps - battery and data usage

Hi all,

I've recently got the HTC One M8 and I'm having battery and data usage issues with the phone. Android Core Apps have used 1.8GB of data in the last week (400MB of that just today and almost all of it in the background) and is constantly using 25%+ of the CPU leading to very rapid battery drain. No other app comes close to this.

I finally disabled the background data and it looks like the CPU usage has come down as well but I'm sure this is not the solution since without background data the core apps won't work properly.

Does anyone know why this happens and what the solution is?

I have the same problem too.
I have my HTC ONE M8 for a month now,and the "android core apps" drain a lot of my batter and data.
Please, a solution anyone?
i disabled all the accounts sync (except my email).
I also tried to restrict background data on 4G, but the " android core apps " still drains lots of battery when on wifi.

Any solutions anyone??

Viber was the culprit for me. Uninstalled it and now I have 40% of my battery back.
