I'm hoping it's a case of they need to catch up now that AW updates through the app instead of a system update, but I'm not holding my breath on that one...

Here's something to look forward to, for folks that will receive AW 2.9. I kind of like the idea of little white dots on the screen to indicate Unread Notifications. Now if we could just get 2.8 rolling along a little faster.

Finally received AW 2.8 on my phone and watch. The watch Notification area does look a little darker background color, not super noticeable to me though. At least Google keeps pushing out updates and trying to keep Android Wear fresh. [emoji106]

How did this not make the News section here?
Anyone else heard about this, Google is changing the name from Android Wear to Wear OS? Some watches have already started the upgrade, and there is a list of which will get it. Looks like only the newer watches are on the list.

Apparently Google is changing the name to Wear OS because many more AW watch owners use iPhones than Android phones and Google wants to make sure there is no confusion; that their smart watch OS works on Android phones and iPhones.
Wouldn't most users know that already? Maybe not?

Yeah. I side loaded the updated apk on my phone yesterday. My watch isn't on the list to see the change. I'm actually impressed with how long it was supported though & it still does everything I want.
I've got the Urbane as well. We're not on the list of watches that they say will see the change. Only the Watch Style & Watch Sport are on the list for LG.

Yeah, and no update for the Huawei Watch neither
But that was already expected.Yeah. The updated apk is on apk mirror. Like someone said, it looks a little different, but it's basically just the name change at this point.
