The small amount of people that complain about the F2P model won't put much of a dent in the pockets of developers that create these games. They get millions of people to spend $5-$10 on the in-app stuff and the money just pours in. By contrast, I'd be willing to bet the amount of people that refuse to spend money or play these types of games, are in the tens of thousands; couple hundred thousand at most.
I'd be a lot happier with the F2P model if it at least let you try the game, then asked you after you were hooked if you'd like to purchase the entire thing for a one time payment of however much they're asking for. Unfortunately that'll never happen, because you can make ludicrous amounts of money from people that are hooked.
