Anybody else worried about being an early adopter?

Isn't odd that seemingly not many people at all have complained about D1 failures until the last few weeks in reference to buying the Bionic? I smell a conspiracy...>.>

Yeah, it is interesting that everyone I know is starting to have trouble with D1 in the past month. Gotta small update, didn't think much of it, but now it's really got me wondering.

My D1 has been getting worse and worse by the day as well. I bought it a few days after release 2 years ago November.

You mentioned a small update. What/when was that? All I know is that every time a Google or Verizon app update comes in (I am set for no automatic updates, but the Google and Verizon ones seem to sneak through), the new app is significantly larger than the one it replaces, and I need to delete several other apps so I don't run out of memory. I haven't been able to run Flash for over 6 months it is such a memory hog.

Can't wait for Thursday... now I need to see if it will be Costco or the Verizon store.

The more I think about it, I think it was my wife's phone that got the update. I got the exact same issues as you. I just deleted flash as well and haven't had any more trouble with memory, but still lags like all hell. I hit the icon in the bottom middle to go to the apps, and it just sits with a blank screen for a minute, then the apps finally come up. I was doing factory resets every other week, but haven't had to since I deleted the flash player. And I just love getting text message rejected since it's full when I have no text messages. Thursday, sweet Thursday!! Just wondering if this Costco rumor is legit.

D1

Yes... hope the Costco rumor is true as well. Hate to pay $300 (I need to see if I still have an old $100 NE2 upgrade left - I might on one of my lines). I have the desktop (clock) charger, the car mount, and the battery charger (with extra battery) for the D1 now, so I would probably shell out for them anyway.

My D1 now takes over a minute to get the dial-pad up to make a phone call. Sometimes over 2 minutes... I'd hate to need to make a call in an emergency. Some apps simply don't start until I hit the icon several times. The text message full message is really frustrating, since it sometimes wont clear no matter what I do. And then I get a stream of texts and voice mail and missed call notices when the D1 decides that I am worthy of receiving them again.

The Bionic Facebook animation indicates 1GB RAM. If it doesn't really have that much I may need to pass on the Bionic. I guess I use too many apps.

Fear not, it has 1gb of dd2 ram which is super duper special-stupid fast. At ease you lil multitasker you! :)

You guys should try SS 5.5. I literally have none of the issues you are describing.

The only real flaw with my D1 is a damaged earpiece speaker. There was some metal debris stuck to the earpiece speaker, and like an idiot I blew it out with compressed air. Since, it has only been capable of 1/3rd volume at max.

I could have SBF'ed and taken it in for a warranty claim, but I know I voided the warranty when I rooted, so I have just been using it on speaker to get by.

Can't wait for the Bionic so I can have privacy on phone calls again!

I thought it was originaly advertised with 1G but when all the info started coming in I thought i heard several times that it was 512?
Now I guess these could be two different items being measured cause I dont understand this cell tech stuff. I do no more is better, I think.

Early adoption might be necessary for rooters atm:

P3Droid P3Droid

If you want an easily rooted bionic I would suggest buying the first batch.

apparently a patch will be underway to fix the root workaround. So if you are planning on rooting, you better get on it quick.

512mb ram was the old, scrapped version of the bionic. There are plenty of photos/videos/reviews still floating around cuz of the permanance the internet provides....1gig ddr2 > 512mb ddr2.....new bionic has 1gig ddr2
