Are Samsung phones better?

Hi all, prior to my OD, I had many a samsung, moto, and blackberry. Let's start off with the blackberry. I guess for business, they're okay. For anything else, they're lost in space. Now my samsung phones were prior android but I didn't like the build quality of them. They never lasted for the duration of the two year contract. Once I went to moto. The first thing you notice is its classy design and build quality. Call quality speaks for itself. Went from OD, to droidX, and now bionic. All 3 phones are still going strong. I sold my OD to a friend and it's still operating flawlessly albeit slower and it's almost 3 years old. I use my old X for a backup when I'm working in my garage or doing outside work.

Like yourself, I owned an OG and now a Bionic. Likewise, I've enjoyed both. With said, I'm really impressed with Samsung phones & tablets. Currently, I am leaning towards the S3 when it becomes available. IMHO, Motorola has become to fixated on cranking new phones out and become sloppy on fixing problems on predecessor products (ala RAZR/Bionic). Of course I'll keep an eye on Motorola to see what shakes.

I couldn't buy a samsung phone cause the nexus just didn't feel expensive enough, u no what I mean? It felt like a disposable camera. Plastic and not very tough but its made to be thrown around and eventually replaced. Moto phones feel expensive like something you should take care of and it will last u a long time. Besides for that, Motorola has the best hardware. Their radios are unrivaled. The gnex people have been complaint a lot lately about not being able to hold a signal or hear from their speaker during a call. Moto just has their act together and makes expensive phones. Sammy makes cheap phones but charges an expensive price

Sammy makes phones like they make tvs. They makes the best quality the and its all I buy. But they wouldn't make a good portable device. They're fragile and need to stay in one place. If u found one spot in ur house with a good connection, hung ur nexus on the wall, made sure it never got bumped into and the kids.don't play around it, and warn everyone that its not good to touch the screen cause something bad could happen, then it would be great to show off to people but use a different device for calls, internet etc. Moto has always made phones the way a phone should be and when it comes to quality, they are really unrivaled . Their radios are second to none... and... well what else do need to know?

To use the example you gave, 50/50 chance of having a good phone doesn't exude quality though. I don't get why people continue to support a manufacturer when that manufacturer has kicked them between the legs.

I don't disagree, the Bionic is the 4G red headed stepchild from Motorola, much the same way the D3 and X2 are for 3G phones.

How so? It is on target to receive ICS "early Q3 2012" - the RAZR is supposed to get it "Q2 2012".

Since Q2 2012 only goes thru the end of June, "early Q3 2012" makes me think the Bionic will get ICS sometime in July (assuming things go as planned).

It's not like the RAZR is light years ahead as far as OS goes. And it's ALMOST identical to the Bionic, hardware wise. I'll bet you the RAZR gets ICS the last week of June, and we see it first week of July. The Bionic has seen 3 OSes so far (5.5.886 at launch, update to 5.5.893, and update to 5.9.902) and each has shown marked improvement. I do not agree with the "red headed stepchild" comment at all, as the Bionic is very well supported.

For all of those who think the RAZR is a big step up, it's one of those "grass is greener on the other side" deals. The closest thing the RAZR has to an official ICS build is a leaked version that is risky to install and may take you permanently off the upgrade path. People in the RAZR forum are just as anxious for ICS, and experience the same data issues that some Bionic users experience.

I completely agree.the bionic had a couple bugs when it first came out as the first dual-core 4g phone but moto really stepped up to fix it. we've gotten more updates on this phone than I've ever gotten before. Like 5 times the amount of updates the nexus has gotten. It is the same as the razr hardware wise except it's not overclocked by .2 and it can have an extended battery/swappable batteries. Like you said, early Q3 is the beginning of July and I'm not even convinced the razr will have ics by then. People got used to trash talking the bionic and they still do even though it is now the most stable, supported, reliable phone available
