Are you in favor or against Android dropping the app drawer

I sure hope this doesn't become a thing. Like others, I enjoy having my most used apps on my homescreen(s) where I want them and have them organized with widgets in a way that makes plenty of sense to me. I've used a similar layout since the OG Droid, at least. Can't remember my setup on the G1.

I disagree that we don't need the app drawer if we don't have bloat apps. There are apps that I use infrequently that I only access there. My main homescreen has 4 icons, 2 folders, and a clock/weather widget. Those are my most used apps. My next most used apps are on the next screen-9 icons, 6 folders, and a handful of widgets. Then it's my calendar widget so I can quickly see what's going on.

There are plenty of other apps that I use once in a blue moon that I only access through the app drawer. These aren't junk apps and are pretty much all apps that I chose to install. I don't need them on a homescreen as rarely as I use them, but I still like having them accessible.

No app drawer was one of my biggest complaints when I gave the iPhone a try years ago. I'd rather have apps that I don't use tucked away in the app drawer than have to have a folder of junk apps on the homescreen.

I read an article about this rumor last night. I like that Samsung has it turned off by default (you get an app drawer by default) on the S7, but has the option to try without an app drawer. From what I read, they also ask if you like the feature or not. If enough people tell them they like the app drawer, I can easily see Sammy keeping it even if stock Android dumps it.

I love my Nexus, but I'm hoping they don't kill the ability for third-party launchers to have app drawers if they decide to do away with the app drawer.

What will this do to my ability to use widgets? Will apps be reordered based on where I put a widget? I don't like this at all. No widgets was my other complaint on that iPhone years ago.
Ios users think " a widget is a fictional product made by a fictional corporation for discussion purposes only".
I just cut my installed apps down to below 140. All bloatware I don't ever use is frozen and doesn't show up in my app drawer and though I might not use that plethora of remaining ones every day I do use them and my Note4 would look like my wife's iPad if they took away my drawer. I keep a very minimal home screen consisting of a dialer, clock widget and ICE widget but make full use of docks on phone, tablets and smartwatch, having only 1 phone radios and volumes settings widget on the home screen area of the Gear S. On the Note4 I have a gesture set to drop the dock from view when I'm not using it, thus a full full screen. No dock and no status bar. I've edited the religious message in the screen shot out so as not to possibly cause trouble with the no religion rule of the forum.

I am offended by pink squiggly lines. ;)

Just a few more of my rambling thoughts. For years, Android enthusiasts have touted that Android gives us choices, options, and customization...things that iOS does not do. Now Google wants to make our phones look more like iPhones? I just don't see the reasoning. Choices, let us have our choices. If you don't like the app drawer: set up folders, widgets and icons on every available home screen and never open the app drawer. If you like a clean home screen, use the app drawer. What is it hurting to keep it? Does it slow our phones down? Similar to JonnyKansas, I use 3 home screens, with widgets and icons for all the apps I use every day. But I have a lot of travel apps that I only use when I travel and don't need them on any home screen. When I need them I open the app drawer. Most people I know have no idea what a widget is, how to add one, or how to make a folder of icons on their home screen. They rely on the app drawer. Not everyone is a power user that understands all of the options available to them; take their app drawer away and they are less likely to buy another Android phone. Come on...how many of us here have heard a friend or family member say "I use to like this phone, then I got some new update and it changed everything, I wish they would just leave my phone alone"?

I'm not against having it, my point was that it's full of crap I never use. If they got rid of it and keep the crap, I'm certainly not for that at all..

1 thing I wish Google would imitate Apple in. Lack of fragmentation. A new iOS update comes out and within days of release my daughters iPhone 5 has it, wife's iPhone 4 has it, daughters boyfriends iPhone 6 has it, churchs iPads have it, etc. I've got 2 tablets and 3 phones I currently use in some form and there's 5 different versions of bastardized Android between the 5, the old G2 having the most up to date version.

A co-worker of mine (he's an IT guy) talk about that sometimes. He's a huge iEverything fan. It's hard to counter that point during an Android vs. iOS discussion. We are too fragmented; but there are so many different manufacturers involved with Android. I don't think this will ever change.

I'm all for having app drawer ...but you can just scroll into a folder and have them there same way as app drawer ..and even place it in the dock area ...

That's just extra unnecessary work that nobody needs and then you will be left with bunch of empty home pages that you have to go through trouble of removing.
Hopefully it's one of those Google unbright ideas that will be buried with their other failures.

I'm ok with having an option in settings for people who may like the MIUI/iOS look. But taking away the app drawer no....in fact the first thing I do when I set up my new android device (or after a fdr) is to make sure that the auto add app to home screen option is unchecked. My home screen has my most used apps, 2 screen my fitness apps, and 3rd screen my banking apps. I personally do not like to have any of my screens crowded with apps.

So hopefully this rumor is just that and Android N does not stand for No app drawer.

I would be OK with the option to Enable / Disable like the article says the new GS7 has. Like I said earlier...just give us choices. I think that's what most Android users want...options and choices.
