ASPHALT 5 for the DROID!!!!

Also I think we have all learned a good lesson:

Don't buy a game directly from Gameloft's WAP store. Inzted wait until it comes to the android marketplace and you can redownloaded it with much less hassell and there is that 24hr trial period thing.

100% agree. gertman had you success and a working game now ?

How is the gameplay? I think I had this game on my old omnia and it was alright, nothing special at all. It looks amazing but does it play well?

i had asphalt 4 on my omnia and 4 and 5 on my ipod touch. imo, it plays way better on ipod touch than omnia so hopefully that's how it is with droid. I really enjoyed 4 on ipod so much i actually finished the game. never finished 5.

Well I took the plunge and I haven't played it too much yet but so far really good an fun game :). I love that you can change the view. Graphics are incredible. I'm gonna write review probably tomorrow on this game for anyone that wants one. But for those who can't wait and are debating, its seems to be well worth the $7.

Looks nice, runs well. Kind of disappointed, expected the game to be pretty polished due to the hype/price. This is not the case, the controls need some work and the interface needs even more attention. Most notable would be the sliders for the paint color, extremely hard to use. Load time is a little much, but very reasonable at 1.25ghz. I was pleased to see that my Droid was only at 105ºf after a straight hour of playing at 1.25! Biggest let down was the lack of "smoothness" in regards to the environments and game play. The graphics are way ahead of Raging Thunder 2, but this game lacks the over all smooth feel. There are tons of cars (and motorcycles!), I stopped browsing them after 20. Seems like this game could keep you busy for quite a while, there are tons of things to do! Cops, motorcycles, and custom paint jobs. What more could you ask for?

Graphics - 5/5
Content - 5/5
Game play - 3.5/5
GUI - 0/5

Worth the high price tag, if they fix the interface and smooth out the game play. Overall 3.5/5

thx for the quick little review. what exactly do you mean with "smothness" ? do you experienced some lags / framedrops in the game ? even with 1,25 ghz ? well i think they have to optimize it a bit. but look : droid haves just the power vr sgx530 gpu and iphone the faster power vr sgx 535. and droid haves a 2,5 times higher screen res too. so it´s harder to make a game like this running without lags. but like hyperdevbox shows us, it depends much on the graphics driver too. so we can just hope that the good droid driver will provide us some extra fp/s.

btw : i weill rebuy it and make a review for our droidblog too.

No I'm not talking about lag, it plays just fine, great FPS. The smoothness I am referring to is the terrain. The curves on Raging Thunder 2 are very smooth, compared to extremely blocky polygons on Asphalt. Almost reminds me of 007 for N64. I would take a couple comparative screenshots but I can't find drocap anywhere...

ah ok. good to hear that the fps are fine that was the most i was affraid of. i saw some videos from the game and screenies too and the terrain doesnt look very low textured to me. but maybe i have to see it on my own. will buy it later. btw what´s drocap ? :)

Screenshots came out all choppy, no good. The textures are great, it is just the polygons they are stretched on. There are no smooth curves, not a real deal breaker but really noticeable coming from RT2. Drocap is a program for root users to take screenshots.

So i think theres no anti aliasing and the textures arfrom the inviromente ar maybe the low res ones from the iphone. But the car models look better as in rt2 dont they? Will try it out later at home. You can publish the scteens here even if they dont came out well. Should be interesting. Ill make some too. Maybe with my slr.

Well they aren't turning out very well but I will post them. You can't see what I was talking about here, but you can see the nice textures.

i can see what you mean. on picture 3 the textures from the hump on the left are blurred out hard after the middle of the screen. on pic 4 the same with the wall on the right. if i look closer, all textures are blurred out after the middle of the screen. i think they did it to guarantee a constant fps rate cause the screen res on droid is about 2,5 times higher as on the iphone and we have the power vr sgx 530 instead the sgx 535 from the iphone 3gs. this horizontal stripes are they visible while playing too or just on the screens? greets.
