I find this hard to believe…..I have a feeling there is something more to this.
There's not. Asurion is awful.
I dropped mine in some water, and the screen went out. Asurion was called, claim was filed. My dad (who has the plan) had it sent to the wrong address, so I didn't get it and it got sent back. Well, I filed a second claim using the deductible from the first claim. No big deal.
My phone was back ordered. They offered me an Eris. Noooooo thank you, I'll wait.
So, a week goes by, and we hear nothing. So, my dad calls again to find out what's going on. They tell him that Motorola no longer makes the Droid. He calls me and tells me that's what they told him, but it sounded like bullsh!t. So, I called Motoroal. They were like "ummmm, what?! Of course we're still making it."
So, I call Asurion. I get the same answer. I call them on their BS, and they send me to an "advanced claims service rep." The "advanced" rep was rude and helped me less than the other person. I want to speak to a supervisor.
So, naturally, I get hung up on.
Keep in mind, I work in tech support, so I'm not rude on the phone to other support people, as karma is a ***** and I don't want to deal with rude people all day. So, I'm as nice as possible. A little firm sometimes, but never rude/belligerent/angry/yelling.
I call back and go straight to a supervisor. They tell me that Motorola is no longer filling their orders on the Droid, and they offered me a Devour, Eris, LG Ally, and one other phone. Again, no thank you.
At this point, they told me I could go into a Verizon store, have them call Asurion, and Asurion would by me a new Droid. Which is what I did yesterday. Two weeks after losing my phone.
The Verizon people were even blown away at how awful the service was and how badly they treated the situation, and told me to go to the website and file a complaint with VERIZON. I think/hope they're trying to get out of contract with them.
So really, there's nothing more to what he was saying. Asurion is a bunch of trained monkeys sitting on computers reading text files in response to your questions/situation. Awful, awful customer service.
