Likely they wont be available in any store.
The REAL question for me is this.
16gb, save a hundred dollars, and be able to upgrade to a micro-sd card if I need the space and dropbox and their online cloud storage doesnt work..
or 32 gig and not worry about it.
I'm thinking that 16gb would do, I see everywhere things moving to the cloud. And it seems like a more convenient way to access files, without having to swap cards, or connect via USB, which I almost never do anyway. You can even do mp3s via the cloud if you've got the internet for it.
I think the 16gb will do. What do you folks think?
On a side note, as far as pre-ordering goes, I pre-ordered it at shopmyexchange.com which is a website for the Post Exchange, a military-only store. I'm active duty army, and the 16 and 32gb showed up last week sometime. 420 for a 16gb, and 495 for a 32gb. I already ordered the 32gb, it was charged and hasnt shipped yet, just updated 2 days ago to "Order recieved by supplier". When I called today to find out about ship dates, their "estimated ship date" is the 25th, which is TOMORROW, which puts me online to recieve it the 26th or later, on time with release dates. Now AAFES and the PX isn't listed as a dealer on the Asus release documents, but... maybe I'll get lucky!
I'm going to order a 16gb from whomever on the 26th or tomorrow, the 25th. And if the 32gb from the PX ships, I'll just hold on to it to see if supply is short, and sell it at a decent profit.
Sorry. rambling thoughts. I've been waiting for this for months. So anxious. I was waiting on edge for the Xoom which ended up overpriced and the accessory I was most looking for (a keyboard, go figure) was missing. And then this shows up with USB ports and a dockable keyboard and quite literally everything I wanted and more, for dirt cheap.
Thoughts? Agreeing with me? Disagree with me on the storage ideas? I'm still up in the air. My g/f who has a 32gb ipad says getting the 32gb is important, but I am just thinking... the cloud you know?
