Basic Swype question

Um, I think I was using SlideIT.... I'd just loaded Swype and it tells me my trial period is up. I hadn't even used it yet.:huh:

Thats bacuse the idiots decided to stop allowing the use of the trial version and now have a beta version which you can signup to get it, but guess whta the beta is closed and what they are doing is taking on your information to probably sell to other parties.

Nice of them to let you use a software for a while and just when you get used to it they yank it away and dont' release a full version which you can buy, so when and if they do release a version you can buy I will be looking for a pirated version:icon_ devil:, no support from me since I am not getting any from them.:icon_evil:

That wasn't a trial version, it was basically a stolen version. So you are saying that because they stopped the use of the stolen version you are going to wait until they put an official version out and then steal it? and this is somehow justified? Even if it was a trial what obligation do they have to put out a paid version?

i'm not sure if you know this but from what i've read is that the trial version you speak of was technicaly a leaked version. so none of us should have had it in the first place. the beta version is just that. a beta for us to test officially.

WOW! looks like I touched some nerve...
This is a good and useful application and someone put a lot of effort into it. When a paid version becomes available I intend to fully support it. It is not only the right and legal thing to do but also the smart thing to do, because the more profitable it is for them the more work they'll put into it.

Not precisely. Build 5612 is a workable beta version. Build 5652 is the current beta version. Unfortunately, the latter suffers from an annoying bug that requires the user to reselect it as an input method whenever the phone is turned off/on. It's unclear as to what, if any, problems exist with the 5612 build that is available outside the beta program (as cited above.)

I am officially in the beta program and have the 5612 built and have had absolutely no issues. Does anybody know what mechanism they will use to provide new updates?

You are right I was just ranting on be cause i was mad it stopped working, i would buy it also. No worries all good now that I have it working again, LOL

I am glad you got it working, it is an awesome application
and I have become quite dependent on it. I tried shapewritter and slideit and they did not work as well as swype for me. I will be more than a little mad if they decide to only sell it as OAM to some manufacturer and leaves us hanging.
