Battery is almost done... after update horrible performance.

I am worried my battery life was possibly affected by the last OTA update. I have been using it pretty heavily so the first few days I didn't really notice.

however last night I went to bed I swear my battery was about 30- 40% --- I also have a smart action set enabled to turn off wifi/data etc to save battery life. When I woke up my battery was at 7%!! Something is definitely up. How the hell could that possibly happen. Wasn't even using the phone from midnight to 8am! My smart action was definitely enabled too! I typically can get through two days of work on one charge... the update is the only thing different about my phone. my phone is totally stock too btw! Gotta do some investigating...

Just a tip...you don't need wifi on there... I have data turn off when the display turns off (i barely use data anyways) but wifi can be controlled in the wifi settings... Settings..wifi...advanced...keep wifi on during sleep..set to Never... I feel it works better than constantly turning wifi off with smart actions

I have noticed a couple of instances of the battery draining while I watch since the upgrade. My solution: power cycle, fixes every time! :p

6h 31m on battery. 80% remaining after streaming Netflix for an hour this morning, answering some emails, etc. I re-calibrate my battery every couple of weeks using the procedure I explained above. If you're having battery problems, try this first:
  • Drain battery between 10-15%. (Try not to let it fall below 10%)
    [*]Turn off the phone
[*]Plug it in to the Motorola Charger that came with the phone and allow it to charge fully.
[*]Repeat the above process a second time, if you're really having problems with your battery.
If the above steps don't fix it, try an FDR as it might be an app that is draining it. If none of this fixes it, contact Verizon and let them know that you have a defective phone. At least that is what I would do if I was in your shoes.

I tried this on my second charge and it works. I am at 71% battery after 1 day, 8 hours, 44 minutes.

Yea this is great for battery life...I usually do it at the end of every month.. Sometimes more often..

EXCUSE ME? I am simply stating that YES, there might be
issues with the update and that other users are not alone.
I HAVE DONE ALL NECESSARY CHECKS, INCLUDING HAVING VERIZON
TAKE REMOTELY EXAMINE MY PHONE, AND AND CALLING
MOTOROLA. DAMN RIGHT I AM COMPLAINING. If we do not assert
ourselves with Big Red and the Phone manufacturers, then we are to blame for
garbage phones and bad system/phone performance.
I pay $120 a month and have every right to demand
better service and performance. Have a problem with that?

With you 150%! Ever since the "update" my phone is more laggy than normal, despite killing a lot of bloatware.

I will hit the home key and get some craptastic lag... hope the next update fixes this, phone ran a lot smoother before, its random though, but none the less, I have noticed a difference.

Battery life, etc., after update and patch

In one word: chappy!
Lost many phone contacts
Messaging was totally wacked. Wrong name on conversation stream heading.
Ring tone defeated... Phone had no ringer!
Battery today... To 4%.. 14 hours total
4 hours screen, 2 1/2 voice.
No other major users of power. Strong signal (NYC)
Getting ANOTHER replacement.

Oh... SIM CARD tray keeps popping out... Bricking the phone!
Lovely, just lovely.

Has anyone actually retread my post? I let the battery drain down to 4%!
I did a FDR. I have NOT added any apps since I was getting good battery life.
BTW... there is absolutely no evidence that letting the battery go below
10% is harmful, as witnessed by both Verizon and Motorola techies.
I have very few apps on my phone... no games, no videos except
YouTube. NOTHING NEW EXCEPT FOR THE UPDATE.
YES, Verizon is sending me another phone.
BTW...simply playing videos for an hour after having the phone sleeping
is not the way to show impressive battery life.
Total screen, voice... these are the power hogs and
the time of their usage is what I use to evaluate the battery.
I was getting up to 8 hours of screen time, and up to 3 hours
of Voice, with very little streaming... mostly email and Web research.
All this is history. Getting the replacement phone
today. BTW... I have disabled most crappie apps, and stop other running processes (Maps, Whatsapp, Sync, etc.).
Just the bare minimum are running.
Phones from different serial number runs can act completely
different than other phones of the exact same model.
Verizon is aware of the problems.

I gotta say I agree. Sadly I do. Apple users love there phones due to consistency. These Droids are not. I dont care what anyone says. Ever since the "update" I too have had issues. Battery, touch, lagging like crazy....

I would have to point my finger at Quality Control, which Apple stomps Motorola when it comes to that!!!!

Apple, yes, is a more solid device, and pretty much the only reason I went with the Droid is because of the battery life and screen size, plus I do like a little more freedom that Android OS allows you, BUT, consistency is waaaaay off and needs improvement.

There are pros and cons to everything, I hope you get the new phone and its much better.
