Battery issues/bloatware impact

DINC 2 is great phone no doubt. but am I the only one having problems with the battery??? I was a big fan of the orignal droid and the battery on that device far surpassed the DINC 2. Right now I have tried to combat the issue of battery life with a few things: Juice defender(so far mixed results but nothing to signif), Free advanced task killer (not really any results), factory restore(no results). and also a note i have three apps installed from the market.
From what I gather this issue is due to the bloatware and DRM protection processes.
Im typically getting about 6 hours with light usage(2 texts sent 1 youtube video, and playing one song from the music lib)
Is rooting/freezing the solution??????
Someone please help me out.....

Well if you want to get rid of bloatware, then yes rooting is the answer. Might be a dumb question but does the dinc 2 have root yet?

it doesn't have root yet. and yes to the OP - I am also having bad battery life. i'm having a lot of trouble getting anywhere near what everyone else seems to be reporting.

It only has temporary root. You loose it after you restart the phone, and it may cause some issues. The common one I've seen (and experienced myself) has to do with Bluetooth.

That said, I've used temp root to use Titanium Backup to freeze all my bloat, including the DRM services. They stay frozen even after reboot.

With moderate use i got 25 hours without recharging. Not sure why your having issues. I've done no tweaking to the phone that would affect battery life.

battery life

The battery life on my DINC 2 really stunk at the beginning -- I was going to take it back. I let the battery die completely, then bump charged it. Since then I have been getting 24+ hours with 3G on and moderate texting, phone calls, and internet use. I'm much happier. Still wish so much crapware I'll never use is cluttering the phone. Golf? Blockbuster? I'll never open them.

I don't want to risk turning my phone into a paving brick, so I won't be attempting to root it.

What I did...

I did 3 factory re-sets and that seemed to wake the battery up so to speak.

I'd like to get more power. Been thinking about getting the extended battery. But thought i'd wait for a siftware update. Sometimes those help.

how interesting... i'm going ot give that a shot right now.

Have you checked to see what exactly is using your battery? I had the same problem as you right after I got my Inc2. When I checked what had used my battery, there was a process called pvmtpserviceupdate, or something similar. Apparently this has something to do with the preinstalled blockbuster app. Simply freezing this process has allowed me to easily make through a day of moderate use without charging.

there any app your using to see what services are using up your battery life a lot? i know you can see details of your battery usage in about phone>battery, but i don't think it shows you a breakdown of exactly what services are using it can you?

oh and in there that service/app was listed? alright.. well i have never seen that so that's probably not the issue for me. nonetheless, i just did the temp root and went and froze a few apps including that. also just drained the battery dead, so lets see what happen tomorrow
