Battery issues/bloatware impact

Bloatware does not affect your battery. If it did it would show up on the battery usage. I've never seen any bloatware ever show up on battery usage.

Turning off your bluetooth and gps will only have a very minimal effect. They only use battery when you use them If you're not using them it doesn't matter if they are turned on or off. And again by looking at your battery usage you can see exactly what's going on.

All smart phones will use a good deal of battery. My suggestion is to purchase an additional battery (Amazon is where you can get them cheap) and see if you can find a wall charger for that battery. I have 2 docking stations for my Droids and 3 extra batteries available at any time however it's very rare that I have to use a spare battery. That depends on how much I use the phone.

If your Inc 2 is brand new your battery life is going to settle down in a few weeks. Because in a few weeks you won't be playing with it so much. Display is usually the number 1 cause of battery drainage and the more you pick it up and use it the higher the battery drain.

well how about the fact that services from the bloatware show up in running services? sure they don't come up in the battery usage, but if they are also running, then.... how could they not be using battery?

oh.. and are you sure about that? the gps and bt thing? wouldn't they use a lot of power trying to find a signal? how is it any different from your phone working harder to find a signal in poor reception areas?
i'm just trying to understand more here, not meant to be criticizing your post.

Android was designed to keep most used apps running in order to speed things up. An app open in the background that is not doing anything won't use any cpu power, therefore it won't use battery power. Android will open and close apps all by itself to keep ram free when you are using the phone also. That's why auto task killers are bad, because apps will reopen after the task killer kills them, which will use battery power. This is just my understanding so far. That is also why things show up in running services that don't show up in battery usage.

ohh.. that is good to know. so as long as its not showing up in my battery usage, then there is really no reason to freeze it huh?

Like I said, that is my understanding so far. I am still relatively new to androids, but do like to read a lot, and ask questions on here. My D2G will only last about 2 hours from full charge if under heavy use with screen brightness up. When I am home my brightness is only set at 1% though. Havnt tested it that low yet. On the other hand, if my phone stays in my pocket most of the day, just a few txts or phone calls, I can be away from a charger all day and still have over 50% battery when I get home. The screen is what really kills battery I think. I use widgetsoid app and at the touch of a button can set my brightness from 1 to 100%.

PV service message and bump charge

Yes, the days that I had the worst battery was when the PV whatever serve message showed up on the battery usage screen. It hasn't reared its ugly head since then. I was unable to stop the BB app from updating itself -- the settings screen only gave me the choice for FAQ or to sign up for the app, which required a CC #.

Bump charge is where you completely let your phone charge, take it off the charger, turn it off, plug the charger back in. The light will be orange when you plug it back in, and then you let it charge fully again (only takes ~20-30 minutes).

Seems like I'm the only one getting great battery life. I froze the bloatware apps with titanium backup but my battery life was good before I even did that. 24 + hours without recharging

I could probably go 24+ without recharging, but I use it fairly heavily. I still get way better life than I did with my D2G though.

Well today i did a test on my DINC 2 and what i did was set an atuo task killer to end the DRM processes and services process every 30min, and also ran Juice defender. the battery life was much better but what i observed though is that the first part of the battery drains much faster, the first 2% drains almost instantly ....and i also bump charge, but throughout the day it stood steady at 70-55%
But that said it is very incovenient to have to worry about all the processes, I just want a pone that will get good battery life without needing const attention...so thats why i am contenplating this freeze option.....could anyone explain that process

it's pretty simple.

1) get the temp root on your phone
2) install either titanium backup pro or bloatfreezer (? something like that, its mentioned earlier in this thread)
3) freeze the apps/services using one of those programs that you want to free - like those apps you were constantly ending today
4) your done! you can now restart your phone (or not) and the apps/services will remain frozen until you yourself defreeze them

and this doesnt require root access??? as of now im do not beleive there is a way to root this device
