Battery issues

What makes you think that you can stop those bg apps with a task killer?

Sent from Tapatalk on Thunderbolt

Cause when I kill them they close (though often times reopen in time).

What do you recommend?

I'm looking for help.
get rid of app killer and let Android manage what is running. Also, Android already comes with task killer just in case, its located under settings > applications.

My god...try reading the other 200k threads on it.

That's helpful--Productive use of your time.

No really, you should search before starting a new thread because this has been answered a thousand times here at df alone! It's a "more productive use" of the time of all those who have answered this over and over and over.

Ditch the task killer and juice defender. Also, don't sync everything available in accounts & sync. Task killer is the main one, as you close all those processes Android re-opens them over and over using more battery. Juice defender can use more battery because it has to search for and connect to the network each time jd allows it.you're better just staying connected.

Why no task killers? How else do u stop bg apps?

Android has an excellent task killer. Go to your app drawer > press menu > remove app > at the top, hit Running > select which app you want to close > press force close

Already answered it...

Yes, in my opinion more harm than good. There are of course exceptions, but for most users more harm than good...

Also, if you want to stop certain apps from running, create a shortcut on your homescreen for settings/running services. From running services, you can touch an app to stop it. That's what I do...

Did charge of batteries last night after draining them down and used outlet to charge rather than USB. I did a couple of phone calls some texting and a number of emails. Not heavy use I will admit, but I have been up for 12 hours on one battery and showing over 50% left in battery. Seems fair too me.

Ya, I would never really charge via usb...its nowhere near as powerful and efficient.

I'm coming from a droid X where my battery widget would only read in 10% increments. Going to the tb all I heard was how bad the battery was. HTC give the option for my battery widget to show in single increments. Because I'm always thinking about my battery to see if it really is that bad, I'm constantly looking at my phone to see. (I just got it 2 days ago so it is still on my mind to see if the talk is true).

I unplugged my phone this am at 7:30 and currently at 8:55PM my phone is sitting at 27%. Thats better than I ever got on my droid X! Even for being a sunday and not being on my phone as much I would have had to charge my X around 5.

I plan on rooting this sucka tomorrow if I can figure it out, so I'm excited to see just how much it will improve battery life after having some control in how the power is being used.

What temperature does your battery show? If it's above 104 degrees and your indoors your phone might be looking for 4g when there isn't one available.

Do you have droid wall installed? What about bloatware freezer? Those apps can save you quite a bit on battery life.

Is your gps running.

Try deleting your battery cache with an application on the market.

The battery is brutal. I'm dropping to 80% battery in 10 mins.

Loosing about 2% battery every 5 minutes.

I got juice defender and power saver on.

Any solutions???

First things first, do NOT trust or believe your battery % at all. <waves hand like jedi> you will no longer believe your battery % meter. Now, you may enjoy your phone :).

Yes, when you first get this phone, it drops to 80% in less than an hour, but if you use your phone all day, (at least for me), it will last a good 10+ hours with heavy use. Here is what I saw when I used my phone: 100-80% in less than an hour, 80-50% in 4-5 hours. 50-20% in 3-4 hours. And 2 hours from 20-15%. All depends on how you use your phone but the battery % meter is a joke on this phone. Don't trust it and enjoy your darned phone!

Now that I'm rooted, I can get 24 hours after getting rid of all the <blank>ware that Verizon puts on this phone.
For me it drops it 90% in 2 minutes, and then after about 30 minutes it's at 80%. Heavy use, I get about 5 hours.

I got titanium back up pro just to freeze apps which means they're not running. Didn't help that much.

With stock battery, the battery on this phone is pathetic. Root it do whatever u want I'm convinced it sucks.

I have to use extended battery to keep it alive all day. This thing takes five hours to fully charge though.

Get juice defender beta. I noticed a big difference.
