Battery life on Moto starting to suck?

I'm having to charge in the middle of the day now since I rooted. Battery is stating to become mediocre for me. Thinking of getting the extended battery for the droid 2 which also works on the droid 1.

Been 7 months now and I've seen no deterioration in battery. Sure, some of that are the rom tweaks and improvements in 2.1 and Froyo, but I used to leave the screen on all day and would charge about twice a day, so probably been 300-400 cycles for me at this point.
