battery life

My battery life changes throughout the week. One day it'll take awhile to run down, another day it won't. One night I woke up with 60% battery, and the next I woke up with 90%, although this only happened once. Still

I'm not familiar with "quick settings", I assume that is something from the market. I found today while playing around that if you long hold a blank area of the home screen and bring up the "add" menu there is a power settings widget that allows one touch toggle on/off of wifi, gps, sync, brightness and bluetooth.

Now, its a big icon, filling an entire row on one screen, but it works just like any of the programs I've seen recommended in the market.

Hope this helps.

It takes up a whole row (4 1x1 widgets) and adds 5 buttons. Nothing on market compares to it, I use this for managing my power usage.

Honestly I think hookbill said it the best buy a second charger for work or car or both..

This is a high powered device, it WILL go through it's battery pretty fast. This is the kind of phone that when your not out and about you should prob have it plugged in. when you drive, plug in the adapter, especially if you use the gps nav. When you're home, let it sit on the desk and plug into the wall or something. At work? plug it in.

You don't need to have it plugged in 100% of the time, but if you have a charger at your desk and your battery is starting to go down why not just top it off?

works for me

I got my Droid about 5 days ago, coming from the Eris, and there is a major difference for me. I use it the same as I used the Eris and haven't hit 50% yet. I was charging my Eris twice a day.

Some people say that it takes a few complete power cycles for the battery to hit peak efficiency? (is that what word i"m looking for?) which could explain why some people have major power drains for a few days and then later their battery starts lasting longer, not sure.

Another option and it's kind of a sucky one really unless you have no choice is I believe their are programs that let you turn off everything and just use 2g...? kind of lose the point of the phone but you should still be able to call and your battery would be much better i think? or I'm just day dreaming and you can ignore me lol... need coffee.

Yesterday was my heaviest use. When I plugged it in last night, time since last charge was 18 hours 36 minutes and I had 60% left. I'm digging this!
