Battery Life?

I just emailed motorola this message : "My Droid 3 is accredited with "Standby Time – Up to approx. (hrs.): 300 Hours" my device will not even last 24 hours with wi-fi, bluetooth, and gps off. The main battery killer is"Cell standby". I have looked around on the internet and found this is a problem with many people. Will there be a software update or anything done by motorola to fix this?"
I will let you guys know their response.

"Thanks for reaching out to Motorola. I’ve reviewed your e-mail and I’m ready to help.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please refer to this link for some battery saving tips:

If this does not help, we do recommend basic troubleshooting. Power the phone off, remove the battery, put it back in and turn the phone on. If you continue to experience the same exact issue, it is recommended to perform the factory data reset. Factory Data Reset is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. Keep in mind, when using this feature; everything is deleted. Nothing stored on the MicroSD or the internal phone storage will be affected unless you choose to erase it as well.

Factory Data Reset

From the screen of your phone, press the Menu button
Tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap Privacy
Tap Factory Data Reset
Check Erase internal storage if you would like to erase all the data on the phone internal storage such as applications, music, movies or photos.
Tap Reset Phone

If reset doesn't work, try a different battery. If this still doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know by responding to this email or you may contact us through chat."

I am going to try a reset, hopefully it works! I am using an extended battery (Got it tuesday) and its not lasting much longer.

I have used it normally, 20 min of talk time 15 to 20 texts, check facebook and forums every hour, 5 to 8 emails. While I am at work I am not on my phone alot. But my phone would have been at 30% right now before instead of 80% so ill take the 50% bump!

That sounds about what I do minus the talk. I had to to do a factory reset today because I lost my lock screen. And a reboot did nothing. So im at 40% right now do to that. I did down load my apps but not as many this time. My phone has been on for 7 hours. I usually get about 18 to 22 hours on a light day and 15 to 19 on a moderate day. So im curious about what I will get now. But im happy for you. It just proves that there are some things that can be done to improve the battery

LAWL! Yes, please do. I was on tier 2 support with them two weeks ago. Their first suggestion was "we'll send you a new battery". When i told them I've already had two batteries, the stock and an extended and both were unlikely to be bad, they suggested I send my less than a month old phone off to repair. So, as I already had a new one on the way due to a bad power button, I said I'd just wait and see if it made a difference. >_< (the answer to that question would be no.)

On a side note, the new one went through a normal "Your phone isn't activated so let's dial *288 for you" cycle when I took it out of the box. My original from telemarketing didn't and I had to activate it by hand after getting access to the dialer.

Yet others have done the same thing and no change in battery life. (I've done it twice.)

I did find that Corp Email sync for push Hotmail eats a lot of battery, and that was less than 5 emails a day, so I turned that off. (maybe even corp email in general?)

Once again this proves to be the battery issue. Countless people sending back 2,3 phones, batteries, all claiming they are defective. The whole time they probably been auto syncing their apps with google. I'm sure there are legit cases of there being bad phones and batteries, not saying they don't exist, but the sheer volume we have on the forum is pretty nuts. I feel like a lot of people who are having problems are experiencing the above issue, otherwise, it's probably related to an app or signal/antenna issues (leaving global on, etc).

So the fix for all these issues is a new battery and a new phone. Or does it work better with the extended battery

No the fix for all these issues is to do a factory reset and not sync your google apps automatically!

I am going to try the factory reset and see if that works for me. I love this phone and my only gripe thus far has been the battery. If this doesn't work I will go back to vzw and see what they have to say. I literally got 4-5 hrs with very moderate use today at work and that's just unacceptable. Hopefully its something they can fix with a ota update.
