Hey all. I have a battery widget called "BatteryTime Lite" and before the update it would indicate I had (6 hrs 39 minutes) of web browsing -- but after the update, now it says at (4hr 39 mins.)

I charged my battery overnight after the update, took out the battery, rebooted, changed it's diapers and burped it -- but still no improvement. I have the same indications with worse battery performance. After 2 hrs of light use, my battery drained 20%.

If your performance is better, no need to respond -- I know many of you are raving over the improvement, but I'm not. It's way worse. Before the update I could go all day and still have 50%.

Just so you know, I've uninstalled the widgets, checked the battery usage in settings, and have done nothing different using the phone after the update (which I waited for OTA).

Oh, I also completely drained my battery and recharged it overnight with the power off before the update and that really improved my performance. But now....

it sucks! Anyone else seeing worse battery performance since the update? Solutions?

Thanks

Yeah my battery seems to be going much quicker too. Checked settings and all is the same from what I can tell. Any ideas would be appreciated!!

Never completely drain the battery to nothing. It's good to drain it close and recharge, but draining it completely will result in a shorter battery lifetime (overall, not just charge).

From what I can tell you're the only person I've heard that says battery life has gone down. My battery performance has only improved, others say the same, and the official patch notes say it did improve battery performance.

So, are you actually seeing the battery depleting faster, or just this widget is saying so? It could be the widget has been goofed up by the update and needs a patch from the developer.

Edit: As an example - My phone was unplugged at 7AM and it is now 4:50 PM. I keep GPS turned on for Beautiful Widgets and Google. So far I've done some browsing, a lot of reading on Google Reader, updated a bunch of apps, downloaded apps, used WiFi, etc. Nothing really extensive, but the battery is at 70%. By now it's usually hovering around 50% and hits 20% by, say, 10:00.

Also, some widgets need to "calibrate" and may display inaccurate results for the first few days.

My widget matches what is said under setting, about pkone and status. Under moderate usage seems to loose about 10% an hour is that about right or is that more than what you're seeing?

Definitely not what I see. I don't know how much you use your phone and for what you use it for, but that's pretty low battery performance. At the end of the day I always have 12-14 hours before the battery hits 15% (when the notification pops up telling you you need to charge it). I guess that's close to 10% an hour at the low end, but I usually get closer to the 14 hours and that's only when it hits 15%, not when it's ready to die.

The battery was specifically addressed. If the usage isn't to your satisfaction you may be unrealistic in your expectations of what to expect from a smartphone.

Here is the list of fixes in the 2.0.1 Droid firmware update:

OS stability is improved.
Battery life is improved.
Camera auto focus functionality is improved, and time between shots is reduced.
Enhancements for three-way calling.
Audio for incoming calls is improved.
When receiving a call on call waiting, the speakerphone now remains on.
Bluetooth functionality is improved; background echo is eliminated.
Improved Bluetooth phone book transfer of contacts to in-vehicle Bluetooth solutions.
After closing a GPS application, the GPS icon will now automatically be removed from the notification panel.
Users can now receive SMS and MMS messages after an EMS message is received.
SMS and MMS may now be sent to seven-digit addresses.
Google contact merging has been updated to accommodate seven-digit numbers.
Visual Voice Mail notices now arrive instantaneously.
The corporate calendar widget user interface is updated.

Well I use it mainly for txt and email some web surfing as well. Did add some widgets and apps right after the update. I uninstalled them and will see if that helps. Also am running Home++ need to see if that's draining the battery as well

Maybe your settings on some widgets/apps are too aggressive? For example, my weather widget (Beautiful Widgets) updates every 2 hours via Geo location and NewsRob updates my Google Reader every 4 hours. I'm not so involved in my blogs to require it update every 30 minutes and this saves battery usage.

It could also be some of your apps aren't very efficient as well and get hung up.

Holy crap. I am getting atleast another 20% after the update. I would have to believe it is something in your apps or settings (unless just a bad battery). I know that something like a weather app can drain a battery if it has trouble getting updated information. Other than that....it should definately be better. Just before I came in to read the forums I told my wife how much my battery life has improved. Now way better than any BB I ever owned.
And nothing personal...but saying not to respond if you have good battery life and this being your first post overall is not a good idea. Although I see a couple others are having issues, we that have had the Droid from day one and have seen the battery life increase will respond. Plus...it may be something someone can help with. We are all here to help...not just make a negative post. Why would you only want to hear from people with issues and not people that have great working phones?

Please note... We need to all understand the actual usage of your phone to better gauge the issue at hand.

From my own experience and how I use and setup my phone, my current battery power available is showing at 60%. The time is now 2:56 PM PST time.

I had my phone unplugged from the charger since 6:30 AM PST time, as of the 10th of December, today is the 11th.

60% battery power remaining after 33 hours, where 7.5 hours, I had an app turn all radio traffic off (Locale using the Autopilot Plugin to turn on Airplane mode), 1 short call for PRL through the Verizon network, random checking of e-mail, flipping it on, with about maybe 5 to 30 minutes of web browsing total. Also maintaining about 2 to 3 bars of network connectivity with the Wireless service, GPS radio on most of the day and background sync.

I have Automatic Task Killer running in the background to kill most of the apps that might be running, with one of the Flexis AV suites installed.

This is a dramatic improvement over spending 1 day where I would hit 60% before the update.

At this time, the only thing I can suggest is looking over what may be running with Taskiller or Automatic Task Killer to see if that helps. I would also check and see if you have any IM type programs running or if your battery app is polling your battery on a timely basis, as I did that once and noticed it really ramped up my battery usage.

All I can say is, that it requires more information and looking at how you have your phone setup that will vary how things are used.

My Battery Life improved Greatly after the update. Unplugged since 7am running browser and many apps all day. Finally hit about 35% but thats after pushing it all day.

No phone use but multiple texts and browsing/DL. Im impressed.

I was using advanced task killer but I did install a different weather widget after the update that looked better on my home screen. I mentioned before I'm getting rid of some apps and widgets to narrow it down, hopefully its just a simple miscalc on my part with the apps I picked up. Guess it is hard to compare when you make a lot of changes at the same time.

The chief diagnostic method of solving a problem - Change one thing, then observe.

If you change too many things, you will not get much idea of what solve or created the problem short of going back to methodology #1 - Change one thing and then observe...
