Solved Battery Talk (All Wearables)

Ambient mode. That's the screen on (watch) but dimmed?
I wonder what an amoled screen with a black clock background in ambient mode with a light gray fonts would do on battery life? I'd bet it would hardly use any.

Yup. That's it exactly.

I'm going to grace Best Buy with my presence tomorrow. I'm reading the Gear Neo gets at least 3 days on battery. It's a Gear 2 with a plastic housing and no camera from what I'm reading as well and has the exact same fitness stuff my Fit has plus built in ability for standalone music and photos (4gb built in storage). If I can find a watch with standalone GPS I'll look hard at that as well.

If you're wanting to see your battery on the watch, there's several watchfaces with that feature. The one I'm using now displays the watch and phone battery % right below the time.

I have not checked scientifically, but the new face I am using is a black background with gold letters / numbers and its been off the charger for 14 hours and still has 65% so I could probably make it all day again tomorrow if needed before charging. And that's with moderate use today.

LG G watch. Picked it up right after Christmas when they went on sale.

Thank you.
It seems there are 2 real choices, Samsung Tizen for better battery life (most users touted anywhere from 2-6 days per charge) but limited future potential for being more useful or Android Wear based with lesser better life (average seemed to be between half a day and 2 days) but potentially much more functional in the future.
I didn't know the LG G had Amoled display (according to Cnet) and I don't think most reviewers knew the possible battery savings by using it to its potential.

1/2 a day?!?!
I wouldn't own one that couldn't go one full day. My watch never has any trouble making it a full day. Not even close.

Agreed. Even when I spend extra time trying new faces and playing with them and/or playing around with other apps on the watch. Never close to not making it from alarm in the am to bedtime in the pm for one day, and as I've stated in other posts in this thread, I've made it pretty full days as well.

That's where I think their use of the screen is messed up. Put a bright wallpaper on an amoled and keep the brightness on max and I'd bet it'd eat up some serious battery.

I'm going to try and drain my battery in a day tomorrow. I bet I can if I really try.
Stay tuned...

Even still, unless they're using some hack to keep the screen on longer than it stays on by default, and/or using a white background in ambient mode...

Man. I just don't know. I'll be interested to see how Pere does trying to kill it in a day.

I suppose if you're using the watch like CRAZY to do everything you possibly can from it. During my work day, mine really just acts as a notification center. I don't do a whole lot of interacting with it, other than to swipe away notifications that I don't want to save for the next time I get my phone out of my pocket.

Still. You've gotta be messing with the thing constantly. I suppose tilt to wake would kill some battery, if you're moving your arm around a lot.

I've never run brightness @ 6 before. Bet that'll have a big impact.
