Beats only works with a certain program?

I've been playing around with the equalizer in PowerAMP and making A/B comparisons with Beats Audio. Now I don't even miss Beats. :icon_ lala:

Is poweramp its own mp3 player, or does it work with the phones output in general, so that you could use google music?
