I have had my droid since launch day and have been thinking about rooting for a while now. I would like to use DroidMod. I have watched the DroidMod videos from droid-life.com, but I would like to install the newest version of ultimate droid.
From what part of the process with DroidMod can I flash ultimate droid? I also have not really been kept in the loop about all of the newest programs like the ROM manager, and other programs which make installing a ROM and updating it easy. Does anyone have a link to where I can find all the essentials for this?
If you want to do it manually use matth3w's (thats what I used my first time but it takes awhile since theres like 100 steps) if you want a quick way to root/mod your phone use DMupdater, it rooted my phone for me in like 5 minutes. As for installing roms Rom Manager is one of the best.
Thanks. Reading through math3w's howto guide now. Still not sure of which rom is the most recent. His guide seems to explain why you are doing what you are doing and I like that. I'm a real big "but WHY" kind of girl.
This thread was very helpful to me, because it gave a video description to follow along with while rooting my Droid with DroidMod 1.0 (DroidMod Updater): "Seen some Questions Here is a video of DroidMod", by PilotCharles. You can find it in the Hacking FAQs, or do an advanced search for thread titles. After that, the only thing I needed to do was SetCPU, which I downloaded from the market, and read about in a thread search. I have refrained from downloading more recent mods, and am awaiting the next update of DroidMod after the Verizon update 2.1.
