[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for the Droid X

Can someone help me with maps? I SBF'd to 2.3.3 and installed 7.1. I did the gapps flash right afterward and rebooted the phone. When I was activating the phone I saw a pop up for loading apps like maps but I didn't do it because I thought it had to do with the market and didn't want to install at the time. I can get maps to open but the GPS symbol isn't coming on and it's not finding my location. Do I need to re install the rom, gapps and start over? Thanks

Ugh im so confused... So i flashed back to .602 and then installed cm7 with the All in one installer. I'm so confused with cm7.1 though... If i'm on the latest nightly (120) am i currently running on gingerbread or froyo kernal. Am I even on 7.1 for that matter or am I still on cm7. I want to make sure i know before i start messing with the new boot manager. I'm on android 2.3.7 Kernal Version" 2.6.32.9-g55626e1. Thanks in advanced.

Honestly I am confused by what you are saying, admittedly it may be due to just getting home from a 10 hr work day but who knows. Anyway, you say you flashed back to .602 and then used the AIO. What AIO are you talking about? And as far as I know the official nightlies are still on the same kernel as froyo so I am assuming that is what you are on, unless I missed something and they made the switch.

before you do that, double check to make sure GPS is on. Sometimes it's the simplest little things :)

It was an all in one installer when cm7 first came out for the DX. The filename was "monster" I thought it was a common thing. i could be mistaken but I think it was something team blackhat made...regardless I was on. 602 when I flashed and have updated nightlies daily. I'm curious as to how I get cm7.1 running with the GB kernal. Does that make sense???

I think it does. And I understand which AIO you mean now. I suppose it is common but there are several out there so I was not sure which one you were referring to. And since CM 7.1 requires you to be on the same kernel as froyo there is not a way to get it working on the GB one.

So what route would you recommend I take to get cm7.1 running?

Well honestly I am not even sure where to find 7.1, have not looked for it. But if you have it and you already on an official nightly you should be able to just flash it as you would any other ROM.

Nightly 119 and later are 7.1. If you want to run on the gingerbread kernel you will need to go back to (rooted) .602 and then flash one of revnumbers' unofficial nightlies. Those can be found on rootzwiki - I don't have the link handy but a simple search will get you there.

[witty pun concerning the current ROM and custom memory script on my device]
