Better hotspot performance than Thuderbolt?

Hello, my Thunderbolt drops the hotspot signal from 4g to 3g or lower from time to time while it is sitting in the same spot. Some days the signal is solid all day and the next day the signal will skip erratically. Verizon has offered to replace the phone with a Droid Bionic. Does anyone know if the Bionic suffers the same problem or if there are other known issues with the Bionic that would make me want to stick with the Thunderbolt? I've already upgraded to the extended battery on the Thunderbolt so battery life is no longer much of an issue.
