Bionic Issues and Release Date

well if after all is said and done and IF (huge IF) the rumors are true and bionic has been deep 6'd but is being replace by the Targa then i don't think too many tears will be shed by folks. Yeah we were all looking forward to the Bionic but if it is being replaced by a even stronger phone then I think that the supposed cancellation would be a mute point. Hell we have all waited this long, whats just a little more for a powerhouse phone.

(disclaimer: this is all soley based on the speculation that bionic is gone and replaced by Targa that has been accellerated in its processing/release timeframe)

Oh and as a friendly reminder.......BlackmanX has also been talking about a dual core beast coming to verizon with Android but chances are that it will be skinned soon enough, could this be the Targa? I remember seeing that the specs got updated on it from Quad to Dual core (which would allow it to release WAY sooner than waiting for the Quad tech).

Between the bolt and the bionic go with the bolt. They are both locked so I wouldn't recommend either of them, but if you have to choose go with the motorola phones because they are usually better designed (gps, battery life, durability, etc).

People are confused over the locked bootloaders. Yes you can flash roms. But you cannot flash kernels, meaning your phone never gets updated passed what verizon wants you to. So if they decide they want you to buy a new phone, you no longer get OS updates.

Enjoy your forever plugged-in phone :). Even better, enjoy buying a bigger battery for your brand new phone :)

Actually, my battery life is about on par with my old d1 running gingerbread. So not bad, and with the extended battery I'm cruising at 4G speeds all day, not having to worry about battery...how's that bb storm working out for ya...ROFL!!!!!

my storm 2 still runs for at the least 2 solid days on single charge with full all day use (phone/internet/apps) with the battery it came with:) Only reason I don't like it is because its old tech, poor app selection and RIM is slow to catch up with android/apple (hence me going to an Android OS phone). Yea it may freeze once in a while (which I know android phones are not exempt from) but for a 2 year old phone its still got dam good battery life (with stock battery). Hows the money on that extended battery for your brand new phone working out for ya lol.

I didn't really need it, but when I could get it for 18 dollars from VZW I couldn't turn it down. Besides, if you flash roms and stuff like me it's a good idea to have an extra battery laying around...so I would have gotten one anyway regardless of my phone.

Don't know if this has been speculated or not yet,

But I rather think Bionic might be delayed till Verizon figures out how they want to set up Tiered pricing.

I'm with another poster in another thread. Why is it they can't figure out the power and chipset problems in the Bionic, but they're supposedly going to have everything working in the Targa. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

From what I understand the Targa was supposed to have an OMAP processor instead of a Tegra processor. That could be something. But I am no expert.

Also, if they abandon the droid now and push the targa up to late summer early fall, they still have 4-6 months to figure their issues out. Im timid to jump on the bionic bandwagon if it drops end of may/june. With the way mobile tech is going two to three months from now equals focusing on the next big thing. Im not for locking into a 2yr deal when better hardware is right around the corner.

That being said this whole tiered 4g thing has me thinking my hand might be forced regardless.

Same thing I was thinking.

I could hold off a few months if they give the targa 1gb ddr2, 1.2 ghz dual core omap, that widely unnecessary 12 mp camera, and record 1080p @ 60fps. Thats a phone id like to get behind ; )
