Bionic Issues and Release Date

I wouldn't get to upset over this, while yes, it's disappointing, but unless this information is being released by Verizon directly, it should all be taken with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I can think of at LEAST two other roadmaps I've seen in the past that were way off... only time will tell I guess... but im expecting bionic either on the 21st or 28th of APRIL hehe

Sent from my DROID2 using DroidForums

The leaked Verizon schedule had the 4G Novatel and Samsung modems coming out today (31 Mar) and they are now on the Verizon web site.
The next release date is Apr 7 for the Casio Cammando and Samsung Charge. If they are released Apr 7, we probably should believe the leaked schedule and look for the Bionic in May.

Do you have a link to the Novatel Mifi4510L that was supposed to be released today as well? I don't see that one. If it wasn't released, then I would say this map is likely bogus. It was released yesterday, and they already have a discrepency on an item.

The only date I'm going by is the Q2 that was officially announced by Moto. Or Verizon. Or whoever it was officially announced by. My birthday is at the end of Q2 so that's when I'm expecting it. If its any time before that then its just a bonus!

I don't know what 2 think about the bionic now.Now they've allowed my carrier(Sprint)to come out with the EVO 3D.If I stay with sprint then I can save a lot of money and IMO-the service is not that bad 2 me.Called Sprint the other day just 2 c what it would cost me if I upgraded 10 xtra dollars-unlimted data, textin, mobil 2 mobil,so as of rite now I gonna stick and stay-Hello EVO 3D!!!!

in a market where the product game changes frequently.. having this phone drop a month later than originally rumored outs a damper on the good specs.. a month later puts you one month closer to release of the next bigger faster thing.

I love the debate these threads bring. When I started this thread I had been back and forth between Bionic and Thunderbolt. After reading some of the replies of the dedicated Motorola device enthusiasts, I decided to wait and do some more research.

Ive read tons and tons of threads from the DX, D2, and D2G. There are so many pi$$ed off individuals because of some of Motorola's practices.

- The bootloaders being locked down I'd say is the biggest. Even worse is their persistence on doing so. Yes, there are custom roms, but nowhere near as custom as for phones that aren't as locked down. If you can't even change the kernel, you're really limited with customizations and performance enhancements. Instead you're stuck waiting for Motorola to push updates which may or may not come because they want you to buy their next locked down phone.

- Motorola recently got the GRD website shut down for "copyright infringement". Apparently they had some copyrighted D2G pics posted which I understand may have been legit, but looking at Moto's recent track record I must wonder if there's more reasons behind it. They even had the developers PayPal account frozen!

- In official statements on their own website, they basically said if you want to rom, buy someone else's devices. Wow...

- Verizon recently rejected the gb update for the DX I believe it was? I don't know details, but i'm not surprised. If I'm wrong on this one (as i may be), please chime in.

The Bionic may be awesome when it's released, but Motorola is certainly looking far from stellar to me. As much as i would like the phone, I don't think think I would like the whole "closed open source" experience. They must have gotten their hands on the Apple playbook. I don't think i'll ever buy Apple, and sorry to say, probably not another Motorola device either. Unless that is, they change their bootloader policy which they seem quite devoted to. It's a shame, they hit the ball out of the park with the D1...

I'm sure there will be many who disagree with me, an many who agree too. If you think I've misrepresented the facts or gotten them confused, please chime in.
