Bionic or Galaxy S2

I have been keeping my eye on this phone also. But I have some Questions? What do you think about how Samsung treated people that got the phones in the past? Do you think they will continue doing it? Slow with the updates or tell their phone owners no phone at all!!! Just want your opinions!!

With the SII Samsung just tossed their chips into the pot. Its clear they have upped the ante in regards to their Galaxy S line. No other phone on the market will touch it performance wise other than the LG Optimus 3D. LG and Samsung have stepped up their game big time this year and have left Moto and HTC behind.

I think they will support the Galaxy SII and Charge because they are now a major player in the Android game.
I chalk up last year as being "rookies "

Regardless this handset is too good to pass up. If the Targa is released with a Quad Core that may get my attention but so far the SII is looking like a great purchase.

what say you if the Targa is a nexus-type device, with unlocked bootloader (and only dual core)?? ;)

dang it!! i really kinda had my heart set on the Targa. now, all of this info is causing me all sorts of angst... lol

... I'm antsy again... I was over it after deciding not to get the TB... now I just want some solid news on a release!

Yup, I was kinda "meh" about new devices coming out, but this one actually has me excited. It's definitely what I consider one of the next big jumps. I don't have any doubts it will be a 4G device, couldn't remember if it was in the specs.

I'm leaning towards the SII. Screen, processor ,RAM, aesthetics, touchwiz 4.0 a complete package

I wouldn't worry preach. They clearly have plans for the Galaxy line-up.

Although Quadrants do not mean much to some People. This phone did not do that well. It scored a 1421. Way below what the Bionic scored...

I'm in the same position as many of you: which awesome upcoming 4G Verizon Android to get?

Definitely have been leaning towards the Bionic for the DDR2 RAM, qHD screen, big ol 1930 mAh battery, HDMI out, and Tegra 2 chip. Also, my friend's Droid X takes awesome photos, so I'm assuming the Bionic will meet or beat that.

The Galaxy II has some sweet specs and a nice form factor, but I figure if I'm going to drop a few hundred bucks on a smartphone, it might as well play my Netflix videos. It's been officially stated that Tegra II and Snapdragon will have Netflix support in the near future. The Galaxy SII might get a Tegra II and might get a Samsung processor, so it's a bit of a crapshoot.

I'm also quite impatient at this point, as I'm suffering through life with a "dumb" phone:) and I'd like to start a Verizon contract before they take away unlimited data, so I will probably get the Bionic if it comes out first.

Just my 2 cents. What do you guys think?

From benchmarks and spec sheet Exynos is superior to Tegra 2 , it has a better GPU , supports DDR3 compared to DDR2 on Tegra 2 and NEON media processing engine .
Galaxy 2 also has a superior Super Amoled Plus screen that needs less power , has double the amount of RAM . it's thinner , lighter , it has a gyroscope , from previews a better camera , it's not a Motorola .

I don't know what benchmarks you're looking at. I just watched 3 different videos on YouTube of the galaxy s2 running very poor quadrants. 1500-1600 range vs bionics tegra 2 running 2600s. And it doesn't much matter if the CPU supports ddr3 if the device doesnt use it. I haven't even seen anywhere mentioning s2 using anything but standard DDR. I could be mistaken on the ram but watching the benchmarks proves the Sammy processor can't hang with the nvidia.

I don't know what you are watching on Youtube but if you do a quick search on Google you can find a bunch of tests from reliable sources like AndroidCentral , Phandroid etc. and you can clearly see the S2 being the winner . Samsung does make some really good processors , don't forget , they make the A4 for Apple and most of the chips and memory modules in other smartphones . The old Hummingbird is still one of the best 1Ghz single core CPU .

I'm not sure all of the preproduction phones have been optimized for quadrant, or that quadrant is always optimized for the new phones. There's a newer benchmark program called smartbench in the market and it's supposed to be much more updated for new phones (multicore) and looks like it gives a more accurate representation of what your processor is doing. I hope at least one of the moderators checks it out and writes an opinion.:motdroidhoriz:

The Bionic was not Optimized and scored a higher quadrant then this phone.. All the videos I looked at of this phone have it scoring a low score. If you seen one having it score as high as the Bionic or better... Please Post it!!!!

Yup, definitely S2 over bionic in my opinion. Samsung does hardware right, fascinate (ungimped) has been the best hardware in VZW's lineup. Software, now that is a different story. Hope this ends up being true. You seem pretty damned sure CK...hopeful...

If you look at the Egypt benchmark where the Hummingbird is actually beating the Exynos. Thats a big clue the drivers and software are not up to speed. Exynos is supposed to be 5x as powerful as their last chipset.

So wait until some production units hit and these numbers will be even more impressive
