Hello,

I just pulled the official ICS build and attempted to install it from stock recovery.

First off, I was and still am rooted. I had deleted VCast.apk at some point and so I have restored it as a system app in TiBu and loaded it as having been sideloaded.

Now when I go into stock recovery and try to install the official update I get everything from "Finding update package..." through "Installing Update..." to go just fine, but during the install I get:

Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/VCast.apk", "f5b6f168d3a727441adb5523e278300592eb2d9c", "130e2b34bd4a3f598b2d60f5601d19f7a8d1073c")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Is that an error in the MD5 sum of the VCast.apk file? Can I fix that somehow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind. When I reinstalled the APK it never copied to /system/app/ so I moved it and that problem is all solved.

Now just to unroot and reroot after the update.

I'm having the exact same problem, any chance you could send me VCast.apk? I tried downloading it from Verizon's website (and copying to /system/app and setting permissions), but got the same error.

Nevermind, I found the correct version in some Root Uninstaller autobackups.

You don't need to do a full fastboot! Apparently safestrap overwrites files in /preinstall. You can follow these instructions to fix it. (It looks scary, but it worked for me, and now I'm running 4.0.4 XD)

You'll need these files:

IMPORTANT: Make sure you're running the stock build (not a ROM)!

Instructions for flashing preinstall image:
  1. Power down phone
  2. Boot Ap fastboot: hold both volume buttons when you turn on the phone; use down volume to toggle to Ap fastboot, then up volume to choose
  3. Plug phone into PC, and wait for the phone to recognize that it's plugged in
  4. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe)
  5. In the command prompt run:
    Code:
    cd Desktop\moto-fastboot
    moto-fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img
    moto-fastboot erase cache
    moto-fastboot reboot

I did an fxz to 236 and it seems to be fine

Do you have notification bar toggles? I don't. Maybe mine isn't fine...

Thanks so much dude, you saved me the trouble of completely wiping my phone. This method does indeed work if your problem is safestrap related. Only thing I did different was I used the preinstall.img from a 905 fxz instead of a 902, but the method is sound. Woot for ICS(finally).

902 fxz Dropbox link is dead.

Can someone please repost the Full 902 fxz download. The posted dropbox link no longer works. Most appreciated.

Check house of bionic

I think samurai has it posted still.

What do you mean by notification bar toggles? I have the gear and the X when the notification pane is expanded, if that's what you mean.

I expected quick toggles for wifi, bluetooth, etc in the notification area.
I downloaded Widgetsoid to accomplish this.

Aokp jelly Bean has them by default though. And seemed stable enough for the 10 minutes I ran it on safestrap.

Same thing is happening to me, but I think I deleted apps when I was rooted....that I probably shouldn't have.

I can dropbox some apps if you tell me what you need. Sadly will have to be one at a time

I found a zip of a complete dump, but don't remember where now. And I don't have any where near enough bandwidth to host such a thing.
