Bionic vs Galaxy SII: game, set & match?

I don't care what the name on the damn phone is anymore, I've had an upgrade for almost a year and have been stuck in D2 hell waiting.... I have never in my life had money in my pocket dyyyyyying to buy a new phone when the one I have works fine (relative term) but come on... for the love of all that is holy will someone please just release a dual core phone with a gig of ddr2 ram, LTE, a better screen & camera (with one front facing of course) with improved battery life! Oh and screw your locked bootloaders and allow me the option of risking "breaking it" so that I can use the vast knowledge of the amazing development community so I don't have to worry about waiting for you to fix anything.

I would finally like to spend my time worrying about something else.

Thank You.

(just lost 8% of my battery posting this and it makes me angry)

I agree I have had plenty of money for a while now I'm freakin ready. It's too bad every phone has drawbacks. HTC bad battery life, MOTO bad cameras......... I should really get in the phone business I think I could put out a phone that a lot of power users like on this forum would want

I think timing might be an issue.

If the GS2-4G were to come to VZW in September, I would agree that the Bionic might not look very attractive. But, I am not convinced that a GS2-4G will make it to the fight.

I've search around on the net and I seen something saying they would both come out on the 8th of sept. Idk it this is true or not but I hope so so I can compare the 2. But if the g2 has 4g ill prolly get that, the new design of the bionic turns me off

I feel the bionic looks better on paper. But the SGS2 is more desirable because exynos is pretty awsesome, touchwiz 4 is nice, and its much slimmer and hacker friendly.

^You think so? I want the Bionic...but I think the GS2 looks better on paper. S Amoled + screen is nice..sleek, thin phone...They match up pretty close on paper...but I think the GS2 has the edge with the screen. And Touchwiz has nice UI features.

I dont think its a no contest, it destroys the Bionic like some folks claim (the OMAP 4430 is nothing to sneeze at)....but I do feel the GS2 has the edge.

Still want a Bionic tho...lol. Reception is my main need, followed by battery life. Everything else comes 2nd.

I'd rather have a GS2 but I don't know where people are thinking it will be coming out any time soon. If people are getting their information from the leaked roadmap then I would say curb your enthusiasm. First we don't even know if that roadmap is even real or if some 4th grader whipped it up in Excel. Second we have zero evidence that the Stratosphere is a version of the GS2. Third even if both of those are true who knows if it's really even going to come out on 9/8 and honestly how accurate have leaked roadmaps been in the past? Forth we don't even know if it will have LTE which would be a deal breaker for most of the people here.

And pretty much ditto for the Vigor accept the last point which can be exchanged with the fact that we don't even know if it will be a phone or a tablet.

We'll all be buying the Bionic. You'll see.

In doing some research last night, I discovered the Verizon financials under Investor Data on their web site. They are also in Excel ust as the leaked map was in Excel.

I also did some research on the Pentile screen everyone has been concerned about. The S Amoled is also Pentile, which is a process of colored pixels on the screen. The Pentile screen is owned by Samsung. The big difference is in the type of Pentile screen used. PenTile matrix family - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Super AMOLED is but Super AMOLED Plus is not.

This leaked Galaxy SII phone from Korea has an 800 MHz LTE radio. That's intetesting since the US is 700 MHz and Europe has not set up LTE yet. So we really don't know where this version is headed.

One thing to remember if people want to talk benchmarks. If the gs2 4g has a higher resolution screen, it will benchmark lower.

I wonder how the omap4 in the d3/bionic would benchmark compared to the gs2 if it had the same screen resolution. Not to mention the seemingly unlikely event of the US gs2 even getting the exynos chipset over tegra2.

I won't get into screen types either. Some people love samsungs screens, I can't stand them. Sure they're bright and crisp, but omg @ the colors. I personally think moto has gone in the right direction with their screens. If I want the best screen with no regard to battery life or visibility, I'll look at tablets.

Finally, someone who investigates before blaming everything on pentile. It's not pentile! It's the type of screen used with it!

The truly amazing thing on these discussions is comparisons between all these great phones coming out, but no official specifications, no official release dates, and on some we don't even know if it is actually coming to Verizon or not.

I for one would like to get actual information from Verizon or manufacturer on Bionic, SG2 and Vigor. It would make it much easier to know whether to wait or not.
My sentiments as well...

The gsII is going to have an adapter for hdmi and will be thinner than a droid bionic but samsung phones are garbage.I love Motorola and have never had a bad product from them The Bionic specs are overkill for a phone so not sure what all these spec battles are for i just want the phone to look and work smooth dancedroid

If its the one that had earlier pics ima laugh if its the SII cause that slide out Sammy looked like crap and after all these Bionic/SII flame wars I was tired of reading about would all be for nothing cause the specs that was speculated with that slideout were medeiocre.
