Bluetooth Range issue

Hi, I recently bought a used S4, I have found it to have limited range on bluetooth capability, probably only good up to 3 or 4 ft then looses signal, I tried will wireless speaker and also wireless headset, same results, I have a feeling I'm hosed any ideas would be appreciated.

You should get around 30'. Is the OS current? Have you done a factory reset?

I haven't done a factory reset, I think one was done before I got it. It's wanting to download the latest software but haven;t let it.
Do your think I should do a factory reset before or after the software update?

I've done both the software update and also the factory reset, still 3 or 4 ft range, I'm thinking I have a hardware issue.
I wish I would have found bluetooth issue earlier, had phone a month and half or so. Dang!
I'm afraid that's the chance you take when you buy used, I got it from SWAPPA it was represented as
excellent condition. I never used the bluetooth till now.
