Build.prop edits = great battery life + fast phone + full market

i have done the "phone ring faster", "better scrolling speed", "wifi scan", and "black screen" edits.

can someone tell me what specific build prop edit enhances battery life...the only edit, in my opinion, that would enhance battery life would be the wifi scan edit...am i wrong?

You are correct.

whats interesting is my wifi scan was previously set at 45 not 60.

As was mine. I didn't touch it considering I barely use wifi at the moment. I figure changing it wouldn't matter for me.

I had build.prop on my Droid X 2.1 rooted. I unrooted, went back to the original build, updated to 2.2 OTA and re-rooted using Droid 2 method. Now I'm wondering if I can use the same build.prop I had before. I liked how it improved the battery life. I noticed that the battery life seems better after the 2.2 update on original build. Will the battery improve even more if I go back to the build.prop I had while rooted before? Thanks guys.

BAD MOJO to use older build.prop files in a newer software.

Make the changes you liked manually in the new build.prop (if the changes exist in the new one, and they do, this time)... I know you can edit a text file, right?? :-)

Much easier and less time consuming than pacing back and forth waiting for the FedEx driver to arrive with the replacement phone :-)

OH, forget the Market change, no longer needed and could actually make you not see apps that are specifically for the X.

Actually.....I've never actually edited a text file before. I'm not afraid to try but I'm not sure where to start. Once I get to the build.prop in root explorer.....do I rename it build.text so that I can edit? Make the desired changes and then rename it back to build.prop? A point in the right direction would be helpful. :)

just recently purchased my brand new X just curious as to what build.prop is exactly and how it works. Is it a custom app you created or tool. Also I'm assuming you need to be rooted which I haven't done yet but its coming soon. This looks amazing, good work.

Anyone know if the scrolling edit line is on droid 1 I know this is for X but some of these worked on my droid but I would like to see if I can improve my scrolling too if possible

Hi guys, quick question...

I was about to edit my build.prop for the market fix but then I read that it was no longer needed. Is this true? For some reason, when I try to install certain apps from the market or by using AppBrain, my Droid X can't find them.

Examples - The new Car Home and Free WiFi Tether. I find it in appbrain but when I add it to my list of apps and sync with the phone, the phone doesn't see it. When I go back to my apps list, it's not there. Sometimes I search for an app and don't find it at all.

Should I do the market edit?

Having the same issue seems like that line would be the same was thinking of trying to add it but don't know where to stick it

Dave,
Can you send me a copy of your build.prop file. I overwrote mine with and forgot to make a backup of the stock one.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...life-fast-phone-full-market-6.html#post858002 which is only back a couple of posts here.

Make your backup now, revert to stock, grab the prop file, root and flash your restore back onto your phone. 10 minutes, done deal.

It has been an hour since you posted and I responded. file. As I said in the previous post if you can't backup, go to stock, re-root, and restore but want to mess with your phone this would be a real good sequence to learn.

In fact, anyone rooting their phone should know how to get back to stock, reroot and get back to where they are right now.

I am a noob.

Rooted via the Droid 2 method about two weeks back after receiving the OTA 2.2 update.

Since then, I have had no ability to listen to music, take pictures or video, etc - basically anything that uses my media player.

I want to un-root and go back to stock - but I have no idea how. (See, told you I was a noob)

I want to download a recovery program, and tried to download ROM Manager, but it won't download on my phone for some reason. I have root explorer, and I know how to edit text files...

Overall, I am just confused. Someone, please, anyone --- help.

[email protected] if it it easier to communicate privately.

hey lexusbrian I tried all your rewrites with success now i have a question for you can it be written or is there something in the code that allows for reminder alerts to missed calls, approx. every 45 to 60 secs. i found the couple of apps that are supposed to do it, but they only do it when you first miss the call then again only if you wake it up. the phone is in my pocket so I don't see the light and work in a off and on noisy enviroment. so i need consistant untill i check them. I'm new to this programming, but grew up with the older computer programing so not a complete noob. possible?

second topic is: overwritting the build.prop just tells system how to act and does not change downlads or any other secondarys correct?

How high can 'max events per second' value be set in the build.prop file? I have noticed that in jrummy's overclock app it gives a few options for 45, 50, 55, 60, 65. It was recommended in here to be set to 60. Now rubiX has it set to 90.

I'm running just a 2.3.15 deodexed, self modded froyo, and i'm wondering how high is too high. I've gone up to 100, 115, and 120 and do notice slight changes in smoothness. ie. not as choppy when doing quick flicks.
Is higher better?

Secondly, I'm not sure if this is considered a significant mod, or if many will care. But I changed the ro.min_pointer_dur. to 1 as opposed to 10. I think this has to do with flicking when scrolling of some sort. I have noticed after changing to 1 that my scrolling has become almost instantly responsive. Doesn't hurt to try!
