if you have the grid widget, you should be able to do it. press and hold on blank page, widget, look for 4x4 calendar grid widget

My mistake. I'm using Pure Grid Calendar Widget, but in 4x2 mode. It displays 3 weeks, and the dates are very small. The 4x4 mode needs an entire empty screen with no apps on it. Is there any way to make an icon to open it in 4x4 mode, just like the built-in Android calendar? That would do the job, I think. Sorry for my confusion.

It's working as intended.

This is a widget app, not a regular app like you are thinking.

The app is to put these widgets on your screen not give you a calendar replacement.

When you select a day it will give you a single day view, unless you direct to open the default calendar.

+1 on calendar pad.. it works great...looks like outlook for the weekly view. much better than the stock app.

I've attached a few more screen shots, a 4x4 calendar ( not grid), when I click on the calendar it auto opens my default google calendar in month view ( second pic), and my current setup which is 4x2 messenger app in list view and 4x2 calendar. I originally wanted full page grid but realized 1 click on the non grid calendar immediately brought up month view in default google calendar, so I figured why bother wasting real estate and phone resources. Hope this helps
