Wondering if I should exchange my phone. In about 30-40% of phone calls people can't hear me at some point during the call or say I sound muffled. Do you think it's the reception or a problem with the phone? Anybody else have this issue? Thanks for any help. ...

You could try changing the voice codec for your phone. By default, the Droid is set to EVRC, which is not the newest technology.

To change it, go into the programming menu by going to the dialpad and entering ##7764726 (##program) and click on the send key.
Enter 000000 in the SPC password box and click on verify.
Click on 04 Vocode.
Click on EVRC-B and click on Apply.
Back out using the back key and your phone will restart.

CAUTION: There are still a few cell towers (most notably roaming on other carriers) that are not EVRC-B capable. This is why the Droid is set to EVRC as a default. If you are in one of those areas, you will not be able to make calls after this change. If that happens, simply follow the above procedure again and change it back to EVRC.

just tried this to hopefully fix my HORRIBLE "in my house reception". Same for my g/f 3 miles away.

Crossing fingers....

I hate to burst your bubble of hope, but this has nothing to do with reception or signal strength. This only affects the quality of your voice on the receiving end of your calls.
