Not raining on anyones parade either, but my camera has been a real POS since day one, earlier today I noticed another Shopsavvy update and tried to scan some things and ALL went real fast, decided to snap some pics and ALL went to green corners and I could NEVER get them, only red. All of this done on a job site without ever cleaning my lens or even knowing about this thread, so something was done. :icon_ banana:
Zipp read through the thread.....it turns out that the Motorola Execs and Google Execs dropped in our homes at night and connected our devices to our computers and flashed them.

Thats what the "silent update" was. Nobody heard or saw them come and go. Stealthy bastids

Yep this thread was on fire... a post every few minutes... and you left us all speechless..... what can we say to that... everything I can think of I can't post!

This is the weirdest glitch I've ever experienced, but I'm thankful that it's going to hold us over until the real update on the 11th.

Scanning QR pics though via barcode scanner doesnt seem to have improved much for me. :icon_evil:

I've found that holding the camera further away then I would think would be appropriate helps. It actually picks up the QR codes better from a distance then if I fill the scanning window with the code. Try putting the camera further away.

Still nothing, tried different angles, distances....:icon_evil:

Keyring had a nice video with with its app.....

Tip 2) Scan the barcode head-on! Do not scan from an angle. Otherwise, the laser will reflect off the screen and will not scan your barcode.
Tip 3) Turn your screen brightness down. Less bright light means less interference when scanning.
Tip 4) Keep your phone screen clean. Prior to scanning, remove all fingerprints and smudges.
Tip 5) Place the scanner 5 to 6 inches away from the screen. Any closer or further away and it’s unlikely the barcode will scan.
PLEASE note tips 2 and 5 are by far the MOST IMPORTANT!

Keyring works great, shopsavvy now works great too, just barcode scanner wont scan the dam QR

got mine exchange because of the heat issue and while i was in the store waiting, i played on the demo and it was showing all green corners..
then as soon as i got the new one, i tested the camera and alas! it works!!

This is from the Engadget article.

Update 2: And things have turned surreal. Dan Morrill, from Google's Android team, has confirmed that there's a date-related bug in the Droid's camera software that leads to it having cycles of good and bad focus that depend on the date. Our own testing confirmed this, as backdating to the 11th of November returned those red bars of failure. Apparently, the cycles last 24.5 days, meaning that you'll have good focus all the way to December 11, when the real fix is expected to drop. So breathe easy, Gotham, there are no phantom updates, just an oddly date-sentient camera.

"Going my memory here".. I read if you touch the upper left, then right, then lower right then left, it opens the camera to test without activating first if you ever go back in again to another phone you can try several first before activating!
