I am going to study in Japan but I have a question whether or not I can bring my phone to Japan. Many people have told me that when you go to Japan, you have to buy a new phone and a new sim card.
Oh gotcha.. we are all Android forum here [emoji16] but if you have unlocked model iPhone it should work with a local sim card .. I would check your phone model number versus Q3
A quick Google search led me to a Japan tourist website that stated most modern cell phones will work for data with a prepaid sim card that you can buy all over Japan. But for calls you would need a monthly plan that includes calling, and possibly a phone bought in Japan. Possibly? It said it all depends on which of the three major carriers you buy your calling plan through....some allow you to use your own phone and others make you buy a phone from them for calling.
