Cant delete texts..

I use Handcent SMS and I have about 3000 texts in my messaging.. When I go to delete a single thread, or do them all, it will stop working and have me close the program. But it basically screws my whole SMS program so i have to restart my phone.

I've tried to delete in the basic messaging program and it still freezes and I have to restart.

Is there another way to fix this problem?

I downloaded "delete old messages" to delete mine, works VERY slow, but is working. I am also using it to delete 9200 msgs at once. Have heard of a few other apps, but have not tried them "quick message delete" i believe was one.
