Can't delete text messages with picture attached

I can delete any single text message by long pressing then selecting DELETE. I sent a text with a picture attached and it shows up in the thread as a SLIDESHOW attachment. I can't delete that single text. If I long press I get a menu, but DELETE is not an option. I don't want to delete the entire thread. Why did the picture show up as a SLIDESHOW instead of a single picture attachment and how do I delete it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Long tap the individual text with an attachment. When the menu pops up, scroll down to DELETE. The DELETE option just is towards the bottom of the menu. Hope this helps.
